Can Roger On In hold a mix of 02 and 03 licences? How can I distinguish them if I want to transfer them to the aids?
Can you say more about what you are trying to do and why, Are you trying to transfer licenses used in educational products or are you wanting to transfer an 02 license from a set of trial hearing aids. I doubt that 02 licenses can be transferred to a Roger On in but I really don’t know. I asked that question a few months ago before I learned about the Roger Upgrader software but did not get a definitive answer.
Why? Because I want to. No, these are not trial aids. If you don’t have an answer, then better not write than accuse someone
FYI, No, I am not trying to transfer it from “educational products”, I have pairs of aids ( bought them myself, don’t worry) and want to transfer licences from them to the Roger On In
Marvel, Paradise, Lumity, and I assume Spheres, all hold 2 Licenses slots in each aid, one for Roger Type (03) and one for Type (02), as far as I am aware, No Roger oN iN can hold a Type (02) License, these are transferred via a physical Roger X Receiver, using a Roger X Installer, (I have one of these) The physical Roger X Receiver (02 or 03) is plugged into the Roger X Installer, then switched on, then the newly switched on aid, is placed on the installer, and the license transferred to the aids, if you want to remove the license, from the aids, back into the Roger X Receiver, you plug in the empty Roger X Receiver, into The installer, switch it on, the light will indicate the Roger X has no onboard license, place the newly rebooted aid on top of the installer, the light will start to flash, indicating the license is now back in the physical Roger X Receiver… I hope this helps. Cheers Kev
Thanks for detailed answer. I don’t have physical Roger receivers, so that is not an option. I have Roger X installer, though. I want to transfer 03 licences from the aids back into the Roger On In. But I am not sure if my Roger On In has 02 licences installed. Maybe it is as you said, that Roger On IN can’t hold 02 licences, but I just don’t want to lose any licence, as my updater does not work anymore, and therefore I can’t retrieve licences that way. Are you sure that On In can’t hold 02 licences? Can I transfer licences from the aids to On In without risking losing any? How many 03 licences can On In hold?
It’s a Dodgy one @MilosDj, each Roger iN should hold 10 licenses, I have lost 1 license in the past, so I don’t experiment at all… I have 2 Roger Select iN’s, 1 is full of licenses, 1 is empty… The image I just took just now, is the Roger X Installer, with a physical Roger X Type (02) Receiver plugged in, the green light at the top, indicating it has an onboard license… Cheers Kev
Edit; Your Hearing aids can hold both Type (02 & 03) simultaneously, your app will indicate the onboard licences installed in the aids…

Thanks for the explanation. I always wondered if type 02 licenses could be transfered from a set of Trial hearing aids that I purchased from a provider on Ebay. I stopped worrying about that, however, when I discovered, thanks to the folks on this forum, that I could retrieve additional licenses by downloading the Roger Upgrader .
Ray
Edit: I wonder why hearing aids are provided with slots for both 02 and 03 licenses since 02 licenses can handle the same devices that 03 can handle in addition to the educational devices.
You are welcome Ray… It is a very simple process, made complicated with all the oN, iN & X’s, personally I believe, Phonak did this in purpose, to confuse folks, and thereby fleecing them in the process… The amount of folk stung into believing you can just buy a Roger ALD, and it will work with aids is unreal, only to find out, you also need licenses… Cheers Kev
@Ray Please open your own post if you want to discuss different topics. I opened this one to get the answer to my question, and don’t want it to dissipate in the sea of other Q&A
No, a Roger ON iN can hold two Type (03) Receiver licenses at a time.
If Roger ON in already have two receiver (03) installed , then the microphone is fully loaded.
I have 4 pairs of hearing aids, but currently only use 2. I no longer use Audeo P90, and have removed its licenses into their RogerXs. The remaining 3 pairs (Sky M70 M, Sky M70 SP, Bolero M70 NHS) all have licenses installed from my Roger TableMic II iN. The TableMic only has 2 remaining licenses. Although I’m no longer using the NHS Boleros, I’m hesitant to try and transfer the licenses into the TableMic, in case they just disappear.
Peter
Yeah Peter, I too have 4 pairs, plus my grandson has single sided Deafness, moderate loss on the left, totally profound on the right, he has been like this from birth (CMV) so I installed one license on his single aid, when I updated, I thought it would replace that single license, it didn’t, it updated 2 licenses, and one disappeared into the ether, so I am now very wary of it…I therefore ended up with 9 licenses instead of 10. Cheers Kev
Will a new Sphere hearing aid be able to connect to an older Roger Pen v1, or will licenses need to be transferred from the older hearing aids to the Sphere first? Or is it better to wait for the Roger Pen v3?
First you need to install a Roger receiver into each of your Phonak Sphere hearing aids. If you have a pair of HA then you need two receivers.
If you have access to a Roger On iN , or Roger Select iN , then you can install the receivers via this iN microphones by yourself.
If you don’t have access to an Roger iN mic , then your hearing aid specialist need to install the Roger receivers to the hearing aids.
Phonak stopped selling Roger Pens some time ago, so I doubt there will be a Roger Pen 3. If you want to upgrade from the Pen to a Roger On, there are Roger On 'iN’s usually available on Ebay at reasonable prices (They are quite expensive if you purchase new ones through your HCP). If you have a Roger “iN” product you can install the licenses yourself or have you HCP do it. Your HCP can transfer the licenses from your old hearing aids to the new Spheres. However, I would try the Spheres first. You may fine you don’t need the Pen or Roger On.
I meant indeed Hearing Aid Microphone - Roger On | Phonak

If you have an 02 license, no need for an 03 license.
I wonder, what’s the difference between 02 and 03 licences?
Somebody more knowledgeable than I am will have to give a definitive answer. 02 licenses are more inclusive than 03 licenses and are necessary for use of specialised Phonak products used in education. I have a trial set of Paradise aids which have 02 licenses but they work with thr Roger On, the Roger Select and the Roger Table mic II.
