Phonak naida vs phonak infinio with severe loss

I am new to the forum. But have been wearing hearing aids 25 yrs.
I currently have the oticon opn s1 .
I will be having a new hearing test soon.
Initially wanted the phonak infinio but thinking with my hearing loss possibly returning to the naida which I have had before.
The current list is wanting the phone to hearing aid connectivity and just hearing better. Possibly the rechargeable.
My audiogram is uploaded.
Thanks for any feedback.

Hello and welcome to the forum.
I hope you will find here what you are looking for.

What did stop you from using Phonak Naida and you went with Oticon OPN S1?

Not sure if OPN is right for you to begin with as from your hearing loss, you are more likely to benefit from Oticon Xceed rather than OPN S1!

Are you abel to try Phonak Infinio Sphere and Oticon Intent?

Connectivity wise, nothing beats Phonak at the moment, but it all depend on your equipment!

Good luck

Thank you for the warm welcome.
Actually after the phonak Naida we moved and I ended up with Beltone.
Then I wanted the phonak infinio but insurance didn’t offer it so I ended up with the oticon. And I haven’t been happy with them.
So now 5 yrs later and I am hopeful to get hearing aids that have improvements from 5 yrs ago.

Hopefully, one of the professionals will see this, however, based on your audiogram it appears from the fitting ranges that the L-Nadia UP is a better fit than the Infinio UP. I think the only way to really know is to try both and see which is better. Unfortunately the ear molds (receivers) for the two are not compatible meaning you would need to get earmolds for each if you wanted to try both.

You meant Phonak Audeo, 5 years ago, because Infinio has been realised this year, there was no Infinio 5 years ago.

The question is, which brand do you feel comfortable with and hear better, because each brand will sound different?

The latest UP BTE from Phonak is the Lumity Naida. I still use the Paradise Naida. I get by with custom molds with .8mm vent. I think Naida is probably the besst for your hearing loss.

Just went from Oticon to Phonak High power. I like them though they need more setup than the Oticon. Great for speech in loud places.

Marnold — Which phonak high power did you change to ?

Thanks

It seems to me that if you want to stick with Phonak or Oticon you have 4 choices:

  • Phonak Naida Lumity
  • Phonak Sphere Infinio
  • Oticon Xceed
  • Oticon Intent

I have perhaps a similar loss to you, except your loss in the higher frequencies is slightly more severe. I have worn all of the 4 devices above. They are all very good. However, what determined the best outcomes was the fitting. I had better success with the Oticons because I had REM (Real Ear Measurement). Sadly, I did not have REM for the Phonaks.

However, that said, I think personally you should consider the Phonak Infinio Sphere or the Oticon Intent with 105 dB receivers because they both have AI. Then use soundrecover/frequency transposition to shift your higher frequencies to within this range. The AI to me is a game changer and you might see benefits.

If this feels too underpowered then go for Xceed or Naida Lumity.

Whichever you get, make sure you have REM.

I want to add that it is quite possible that Phonak will announce Naida Infinio soon, maybe this year.

Yes absolutely it’s long overdue, the severe profound market need’s this now, very slow to release for this end of the market, and not just Phonak guilty of this, all the rest and also slack!
