Phonak M90 Self Programming

M90 Self Programming,

is there a way to reduce the environment sound and increase speech clarity. i have just reconfigured my hearing aids using power domes and audiogram-direct. After the programe, Spent rest of the day in malls, i was finding everything loud enough but speech was bit too soft to understand with background noises too loud.

I kept default target setting as it is and just did some fine tuning adjustment on Noise Block as well as SoundRelax but honestly i didnt find much of difference with it. I was not able to catch the speech.

is there a way to increase the SpeechClaity wherever by reducing the background noises.

here is the setting from Calm Situation - Gain&MPO(AutoSense) and FineTuning ( Self Adjusted)

You should post this in the DIY area. Might get more help.
Noise block is the answer.

@raudrive , well i tried this option but couldnt get much of improvement. As you can see in the snapshot, already set 2 steps above Target suggested point.

I find too much NoiseBlock takes away speech as well as noise.

My first take is that you might benefit from slightly stronger Sound Recover 2 settings. This isnā€™t going to do anything for noise reduction, but it may improve clarity.

Can you hear sounds at 4000 hertz up? If you canā€™t then sound recover needs to be adjusted accordingly.

Most tuning issues are not one thing fixes it. Usually a combination of changes. Then you get into different programs and environments, that starts the whole thing over again. It takes patience and helpful knowledge from this forum usually. For me it has.

how is it that you are doing self adjusting?
Iā€™m a new hearing aid user, but Iā€™ve already had the feeling many times that I wish I could make changes myself.
I understand of course value in an audiologist, but the engineer in me researches and thinks through things like this much more than the average user (based on the impression I get from all the questions Iā€™ve asked the audiologist). Even before buying, I was pouring through the providerā€™s side of the manufacturerā€™s web site looking at specs and suchā€¦

Here are some links that cover the basics of self-programming. DIY ā€“ Beginners, a collection of links to get you started

thanks dusty! Iā€™ll save that link and look into it when I get some timeā€¦
Iā€™m thinking right now that Iā€™m not likely to try it nowā€¦but after my paid year with the audiologist I may consider it for some of the future maintenance tweaks. Iā€™m certainly not thinking at this point Iā€™d want to change the prescriptive settingsā€¦but really would like to at least be able to try a few of the options you can switch on and off. I get the idea thereā€™s quite a few little options that the audiologist may not ever let me know aboutā€¦changing the functions of the buttons for example, or switching some of the ā€œauto-programsā€ ā€˜onā€™ or ā€˜offā€™
