Phonak "Fitting Guide Masking Dilemma"

This was suggested on the forum by DrBailey if I remember correctly. It helped me a lot.

I found it much easier to understand speakers in difficult conditions using this method.

I have Phonak Audeo Paradise P90R’s.

It was a break through for me

The changes helped me understand speech in noise better much better

Have to say…with my hearing disability, this suggestion helped me every day.

Every time I see my hearing instrument specialist, I ask him to boost mid and high frequencies. And it always makes a difference.

I got my Phonak Audeo Paradise P90R’s 3 years ago.

I was a new client at Credit Valley Audiology. I couldn’t hear behind me, and had almost been hit 3 times on construction sites. My hearing aids were only 2 years old; they were supplied by Peel Audiology.

CVA went after Workman’s Compensation. They got me the P90R’s. That’s a miracle in Ontario with workman’s compensation.

After many many tries after a year and a half, CVA suggested I needed to find someone that could help me more than he could. He fired me. He erased my hearing aids as we talked. He did a Phonak quick fit for a recent hearing test. Said I "heard better, and my hearing aids would be quieter.

After a couple of months I went to “Hearing Well Matters”. They used the audiogram that CVA had provided. I heard much better. Workman’s Compensation restricts the amount of work a hearing aid firm can do. After a year with this firm I had my first real hearing test, though without REM. My hearing was 10-20 dB worse than CVA had reported.
HWM followed up a month later and confirmed my hearing loss was real. And 6 months later they did REM. What a difference.

I hear music much better now. Yet I often need to have talk repeated.

So I’m grateful for the suggestion that started my improvement.
