Phonak Audeo M90-R indicator light is solid red

Hi all. A newbie here. I have been using Phonak Audeo M90 for about a year. Yesterday morning I got the out of the charger only to notice that the Right HA was showing a solid red light. The left one was ok. The right one is only connected to the phone when in the charging box and still shows a solid red light. When I get it out of the charging box the light goes off and then nothing happens. It doesn’t turn on. Tried the 3 seconds volume down button too but no luck. Please anyone can help? I’m out of the country and can’t find a repair shop and they are still in warranty. Many thanks

It sure sounds like the battery is not being charged, but the hearing aid is still good as it seems to work when in the charger. Perhaps you can find a Phonak service provider where you are located.

Thanks for the quick reply. It has been in the charging box most of the time since yesterday. I even tried to change the slot for it but still a solid red light and the app shows 100% battery but as soon as out of the charger then dead.

Seems I read about another member cleaning the charging contacts on the aid and also the charger got things going.

Let us know.

Thank you. Yes I did that yesterday. No luck. And as I said I even tried the left slot for it too which charges the L-HA but wont charge the R HA

Mine have done the same (having been on the charger all night) - try holding down the button on the hearing aid for 15 - 20 seconds. This seems to reboot it. Also there was an update a few weeks ago to sort out this problem.

Thank you so much Lorjoh. I have already done that but it didn’t seem to restart it

It seems to be in the timing of holding the button down and releasing (you said above you did that for 3 seconds only) - also from memory I put mine back in the charger for a while after I did the reboot.

Also my audiologist told me that there was a problem with some of the chargers that plug into the wall. Phonak here suggested plugging it into the back of a computer or laptop to see if that works.

I have a technical mind and tried different things and combinations myself first. Yesterday at the airport I tried the 3 second method many times then 10 seconds, 15 seconds, 20 seconds and at the end 1 minute press and hold. I also connected the charger to a power bank which has enogh power to charge a Samsung latest phone a few times. Each time I put them in the charger I get a message on the phone to pair them via bluetooth

Gosh I feel for you - we rely on them so much - I don’t know what else to suggest as this has worked for me on the 2 previous times. I know the first time I didn’t understand what had happened and I took them off the charger in the morning for a while and when it wasn’t working I put them back on the charger while I went for a walk when I came back the aid was working again! Mine have done this 3 times but not since I had the update. I have been wearing mine for a year also - good thing is at the least they are under warranty but that doesn’t help when you are travelling. Hope you sort them out

Have you turned Bluetooth off on your phone? Get the phone out of the picture.
My aids had zero lights, nothing. I held the down button for 15 seconds, then the up button for 15 seconds, then put them in the charger and then they started charging. This issue started during a programming.

Thank you for the good wishes Lorjoh. Thank you for the reply Raudrive. That’s the only trick I haven’t tried yet, I will do that as soon as I finish my dinner. Will keep you guys updated. You all have been a great support. Thank you every one :grinning:

So the phone bluetooth is off now. Tried the 15 second down and 15 seconds up trick but still a solid red light when goes in the charger. I may have to live with it until go back to the UK next weekend to see my audiologist

When I pressed the button on the aid indicating red I just did it down for 15-20 seconds not both (I know that sounds weird but it worked).

Same issue here. I was in a restaurant when suddenly the hearing aid turned itself off. I leave it in my ear and try to turn it back on. Then I find that it gets very hot, almost burn my ear ! I quickly go home to put it in the charger: solid red light.
Not working when I remove them from the charger as you describe. How did you resolve this ?

PS: I have the lastest firmware, and it’s my left hearing aids (the one who manage Bluetooth for both)

Don’t try to charge it!! Set it in an ashtray (fire-proof dish). Call your provider as soon as possible. Make him/her Call The Company if not sure what to do.

The load of a hearing aid can NOT make it hot. The battery is failing. Worse-case they catch fire. Trying to charge makes it worse.

You might try holding the volume switch in the up position for about 15 seconds. See if that turns the red light off.
Then hold the down volume button for 15 seconds. See if that turns the light off.
Then put it in the charger to see if it goes into the green light charge.

If that doesn’t work do the ash tray recommendation.

The “HOT!” symptom strongly suggests a defective battery, not an electrical or program fault. (A laptop or cellphone “could” pull a heavy load, but an HA just can’t.)

Apparently for Li-Ion(?) batts laptop-size and down, water is an effective and safe extinguisher IF it starts to burn. (I would not think so, but there’s not much Lithium in them, and airline stewards are told to use “water or soda” because they always have those at hand.)

I had a similar incident that was fixed by my instructions.
Just trying to help. Not an expert.
