Philips 9050's Feel Too "Fat"

I’ve owned my 9050’s for about 6 weeks now. The jury is still out. Sound wise, they are obviously better than the KS9’s they replaced. And while they are better than the KS9’s in loud rooms, noise and high pitched female voices are still a real problem.

What I don’t like very much at all is the fit. The HA’s are fat… wide behind the ear. The way they fit behind my ears is such that the wires to the receiver don’t lay flat against my head, stick out a bit… not a major deal but regularly noticed by the spousal unit who asks if I have put them on correctly.

And then there are the receivers themselves. They are larger than the KS9’s. My right ear canal is somewhat squashed from circular and these are a much “tighter” fit in the ear… not uncomfortable but I do regularly need to push them back into my ears… and this is with reducing the size of my double domes… I’m in the “severe” category of hearing loss.

So, I’m thinking about returning these to Costco and going with the Jabra Enhance Pro 20’s. The HA itself seems to be smaller for a better fit, while still allowing for a full day of usage on a single charge. I haven’t found 9050 features like the accelerometer to be useful at all.

And then there are programs. It clicked that the reason I have programs is that the HA’s are incapable of determining what to do… so called AI notwithstanding. I was going to visit my tech and have him reduce the high frequency amplification in the HiFi mode because it’s too sharp but now I’m looking at a return instead.

Bottom line (and purely subjective, I know)… those of you who have experience with both… is the switch to Jabra wise?

TIA

Costco is now selling the Jabra 30 which is the same as the Resound Vivia

I have the Resound Nexia, which is the previous platform, and I love them

Also coming from KS 9’s and to 9050’s since dec . We may also be twin brothers as to fit. Yes they are definitely bulkier and yes the receiver wires don’t lay flat, and yes the right double dome didn’t fit properly. I solved the right ear problem by getting a custom mold. After about 6 week with that mold, I’m about to go this week for a mold for the left ear. as to the wires not laying flat, I’ll just live with that because the overall experience with the Philips is soooo much better than the Phonaks. For me , going into the speech-in-noise program does seem to bring greater clarity in a noisy environment.
The Jabras had too “sharp,” or if you will too “crisp” of a sound. I tried them about 7 or 8 months before I got the 9050s for only about 15 or 20 minutes in a walkaround in the Costco, but stopping to talk to people. Obviously not a fair trial, but enough for me to not consider them.
Good luck whichever direction you go…
