Oticon TV adaptor 3.0 and the App

I have received the TV Adaptor today.

Is there away of not having to select the TV Adaptor in the App and it just working?

The app is a big help for the TV adapter. You can adjust the TV Streaming volume and the environment volume too. You can also make equalizer adjustments. But you can select the TV by using the buttons on your aids.

Thank you.

Do you find the TV adaptor loud as well?

My ear drums were vibrating.

No it is easy to control the volume with the app. I connect my TV adapter to the TV by way of the optical audio cable, that way the volume to my aids is not dependent on the TV volume. The TV can even be muted and I can still hear the audio. If you cannot lower the volume low enough with the app then your audiologist can make adjustments in Gene2

I did. With later versions of Oticon aids, the aids have enough available memory to store the previous volume setting for the TV Adapter 3 and set to that level when they connect. Older aids (OPN and possibly others) did not have that available so I used the app to turn down the volume.

The app is particularly useful if you have more than one TV Adapter - you can select the adapter to use with the app. I haven’t found another easy way to select between the one for my computer and the one for my TV if they are both on. There are instructions in the manual for the Adapter on how to force a connection to one of the possible four TV adapters that your aids can pair with by powering off the TV or adapter.

I have 3 TV adapters 2 in my home and one in our RV. I also have the EduMic which is controlled the same way as the TV adapter

This is a known issue of Xceed. If you have your own Genie 2 and Noahlink Wireless, you can decrease volume of TV Adapter AND Edumic at the end page of the tuning session.

Found I can control it with the three quick presses on my iPhone button but the default is 84 which seems very loud for default.

It’s a new TV adaptor but it might need a firmware update. I’ll have to investigate.

@biggar I have Xceed which are quite old so likely can’t store the previous volume.

I received this answer from Oticon "

When it comes to the volume, the function to Remember the volume settings that you have set between program changes and hearing aid restarts is only available for the Oticon Real hearing aid model from the 1.1.0 firmware version or newer.

I have Oticon Optim (OPN S) Firmware version 8.0 which is too old.

My firmware is 8.0 as well. I have the Xceed.

Now I know I can access it via my home button, turning down the volume won’t be a hassle each time.

I have a question. I know the TV adapter volume is too high, but what is it on edumic? Do you need to lower its volume? If not - it’s really inconvenient since they are in the same program.

They aren’t the same program as they aren’t programs they are devices that just happen to be under the same heading in the app. They do different things.

@Lostdeaf

My EduMic is okay for not being too loud. TV adaptor is way too loud, it vibrates my ear drums.

@cvkemp

The EduMic and TV adaptor is joined within the software so if you find the EduMic too quiet and TV adaptor too loud, you’re completely stuffed.

My 3 TV adapters and my EduMic all have different volume levels in the app. I believe it is due to the different volume level that the different TVs present to the different TV adapter. As for as the EduMic it has a lot to do with the loudness of tje environment that i use the EduMic in. But use in Gene2 there is a base level that can be set for the TV adapter and maybe also for the EduMic. I received my EduMic after my last hearing adjustments so my EduMic is just doing it thing.

My EduMic had a different volume as well to my TV Adaptor.

@cvkemp How do you turn off the TV Adaptor. I can’t figure it out and the instructions don’t say.

Thank you!

If you mean powering it off, then you have to disconnect the power.
