I found out last week that the new insurance through my wifes employer covers new aids at full cost / no deductible via Amplifon every 24 months. I have had OpenS since they first came out so I will be getting the REAL 1 once Amplifon has them approved and available. Kinda frustrating since my Audi already has a fully stockd suplly of them at her office.
As for me, wind noise is a big deal as I am outsider a lot and fish a lot and the OPNs1’s suck with wind noise so I am looking forward tho this. As for sudden sounds…other than when an emergency vehicle goes by with a siren blaring, I never noticed this to be an issue.
My real hope ( no pun intended) is that they are at least somewhat better in restaurants. My ancient first HA’s Oticon Delta 4000 were far better in a complex noisy situation that the OPN or OPnS1 aids have been. A friend has MOre1’s and claims they were noticeable better in noise than his OPNS1 aids were.
Definitely getting the 312 battery aids. I am on Teams meetings frequently and can even drain the battery on a Connect Clip if I don’t have it plugged in so I am not going to suffer myself with rechargeable. I will report back once I get the new aids as a comparioson to my OPNS1 aids I am wearing currently.
This is the kind of background noise that I find most bothersome: engines, mechanical equipment. Might be car/road noise, or the fan on an HVAC system, or the diesel engine on our boat. I’m not sure what to ask for in order to dampen it. Speech In Noise tends to squash everything.
Well crap. I picked up my Oticon Real’s late Monday. They were set up exactly like my More’s and then they did tweaked them based off testing again. Tuesday I dropped Bluetooth connection in one aides twice. Today it happened 6 times. I had to forget the aides on my iPhone and re-pair both to get them to work again.
I drove 2.5 hours to get me Real 1 aids. Tge right aid kept cutting out during real ear measurement. Since it is defective, I had my More 1 adjusted and got impressions taken for custom power molds.
@prodigyplace: sorry, Bruce - I’m a bit slow: does this mean that you’re staying with your trusty Mores? And does it say on the devices are still manufactured in Belgium? (I think it’s only a matter of time before they move production offshore, like everyone else.)
I think I will get Real. They both use the same receivers and molds. One aid was defective so I could not get them yesterday. It kept cutting out during REM
After the molds are done I will likely get them and the Real. For now I have More because I need working aids.
Molds will take about 3 weeks. I asked about the 60 day return (and free service) period. Getting the Real would start a new one.
Oticon has increased all their prices. The Connect Clip which was quoted at $149 is now $172. The power molds are $100 per ear, non-refundable.
I am undecided about the ConnectClip. I had been using the Rexton Multi Mic but kept it plugged in to USB because of the internal battery. Sometimes us can be useful to Bluetooth to a laptop but I have other way to get virtual meetings to my aids. I had one or two meetings where I appreciated handsfree. I was able to walk between my laptop and a test computer while talking in the meeting.
@prodigyplace: As far as utility is concerned, I find the ConnectClip to be very useful. However - well, everyone knows what my beef is with this device, so I won’t repeat it.
@AbramBaileyAuD please be aware Oticon in the US has raised their prices. Likely price estimates here are incorrect.
For example, my audiologist charges $230 more for the More 1 and Real 1 than last month. The Connect Clip rose from $149 to $172.
