Oticon More: Firmware 1.4.3

I was surprised there’s been an update from 1.4.2 to 1.4.3, since I didn’t hear about it. But apparently for good reason. The problem started with 1.4.2, and was evidently not addressed in 1.4.3. It’s indeed appalling that that such a serious problem, from the 1.4.2 firmware upgrade, which I got on Dec. 15, 2022, has STILL not been fixed, and apparently never will be! (I addressed it by downgrading back to 1.3.0, inheriting other problems. And all of this suffers further because Google sporadically introduces their own problems, including SEVERAL with their Android 14 “upgrade”

.)
It indeed makes me interested in switching hearing aid providers – can anyone weigh in with who is more attentive to maintaining usability? – and possibly moving from Android to iPhone, which I’d regret since my last job before retirement was with Google, 2007-2020; but they are especially “behind” Apple in All Things Audio.

I have the More1 with 1.4.2 and also the Real1 aids with 1.0.1 and i have rhe Samsung S23 and have been using Android 14 for several months and haven’t had any problems compared to the problems i had with the iPhone i traded in to get the Samsung back in June.
I am actually a happy camper.

according to @mertgonul91 in the Clip discoonect thread they got an email from Oticon:
The email I received from Oticon announced that they plan to release a new firmware update, version 1.4.4, for the Oticon More on December 5th. This update is specifically designed to address and resolve the issues related to ConnectClip cutouts. We can look forward to this update with the hope that it will effectively fix the issue.

My Real1 aids with 1.0.1 started to skip while streaming audiobook today. Luckily I have a backup connect clip. It seems to also be an issue with the Real aids also, but I still wonder why i different clip works

And you had a stable connection before.
I never get drop outs with my OPN S. CClip is solid.

My connection is stable the Bluetooth connection never drops it is the streaming stops for a few seconds then continues after a few words.

Thanks for that. Maybe they didn’t write off everyone with the More aids? But still, one year to address this?

Interesting – thanks for taking the scales from my eyes (the assumption that iPhone isn’t plagued by this kind of stuff)!

So maybe I should stop blaming the Android part of Google for all my bluetooth woes, and redirect my ire onto the people supporting their Pixel phones?! (I have a Pixel 6a, “only” a couple generations old.)

OOps! I misread the post!
You said your other CClip works?
Sounds like the one clip needs the reset, maybe?

My experience w/ oticon is they abandon a product as soon as they develop a new processor.
The OPN S uses Velox S processor and has a known issue for some users (me included), known as Flutter/Chirping, or TTTF (Talking through the fan).
They acknowleged this issue, but as soon as they introduced the More Polaris processor, the Velox support was abandoned, and the issue unresolved.
Oticon informed my audi to upgrade me to the More, as they did address the issue with Polaris!

Now the More has the big issue with CClip disconnects, but the new Real came out with the Polaris S processor, so the More has been all but abandoned.
Hopefully that email is "Real", and users of the older Polaris devices will get “More” life out of them!

I did a reset but i do have an appointment coming up and will see if my audiologist has a way to reset it in Gene2 software. In fact i will be sending him an email Monday to outline my thoughts and issues

These are actually good news, since I got the impression that Oticon does not update older hearing devices any longer. Maybe some connectivity issues are solved with this new update. I will check my aids accordingly.

It’d make sense that the OPN and OPN S would no longer get updates, but it’s not a surprise if the More still gets update as the earliest sold Mores are barely less than 3 years old (the More was released in January 2021).

I don’t consider those to be actual ‘updates.’ From 1.4.0 onwards, it’s just Oticon attempting (and failing miserably) to fix connectivity bugs. Hopefully, this is the final one in this streak, and we’ll see an actual upgrade in the hearing aid’s features. I don’t believe so though.

At least they are trying to fix the problems. I have had aids in the past that a few companies I will not name refused to fix.
