Oticon MORE firmware 1.4.0 - BT issues with iOS 16

I really didn’t expect it to work.

if you haven’t updated to 1.4.0 then don’t for now, Oticon knows about this issues and is working on fixing it, this is as per my VA audiologist.
The firmware should be fixed by the VA contract renewal in early November.

Agreed. My More 1’s were still on 1.1 - My Audiologist said the same thing - not to update to 1.4.0. until Oticon fixes the issues, which they are working on. My aids were sent to Oticon for repair and Oticon has agreed to update the firmware to 1.3.
The Audiologist office could only update to the latest which is 1.4 and strongly advised against it.
The loaners I have are updated to 1.3.0. My iPhone XR is not updated to iOS 16 yet, and I am afraid to update it. :grimacing:

I think you should be able to update one or the other to the latest and be fine. IOS 16 and 1.3.0, or stay at 15 and go up to 1.4.0

Some are having 1.4.0 and IOS15

I had my HAs replaced because my left aid got rusted out on the inside (no clue how that happened). But they were upgraded to the new firmware, and like many others, I am having the issue of one aid getting disconnected from BT (even though it remained connected to the ON app; I can adjust just that side’s volume, program changes, etc.). Restarting the aid solves the issue, but frustrating, as it’s reminiscent of the problems I had with using HAs with the ASHA protocol.

My working theory is that the disconnect happens when I leave BT range of my phone, and when I return, that side doesn’t re-establish connection. Just a guess.

But I am also still on iOS 15 on my phone, so this issue is not limited to upgrading both Oticon firmware as well as iPhone.

After 1.4.0 I start having BT issues as well. Unpairing and repairing fixed it.

Good for you! Given your success, I tried unpairing/pairing my iPhone one more time and nothing…

Maybe it’ll happen again. I hope not.

Any luck with iOS 16.0.3? I am downloading the update right now… hope it comes with a fix for the BT issue.

Edit: iOS 16.0.3 did not fix the constant BT disconnection for me.

Same here. I believe the issue is with firmware 1.4.0 and not with iOS. Anyone knows if you can downgrade to 1.3.0 from 1.4.0?

Some devices will allow you to pair two speakers and have audio go to both speakers (1 phone 2 speakers) but the other way around (2 phones 1 speaker) isn’t an option. This is part of how bluetooth works.

I don’t think this is a MFI vs ASAH issue. MFI and ASAH are more or less equivalent technologies, the obvious difference being iOS vs Android.

The iPhone XR seems to have conflicting info on whether it is BT 4.2 or 5.0.

Here is a link to troubleshooting BT problems on iPhone XR. It’s a little dated, but so is the XR. This is for iOS 13, but it should be very similar to later versions of iOS.

Thanks. I have done pretty much everything there is to do… including downgrading iOS from 16.0.2 to 15.7. It looks like a bug in the HA’s firmware.

Had 1.4.0 installed on my Oticon More 1 this afternoon. Using an iPhone 13 Pro Max with 16.0.3 and an Apple Watch 8 Ultra with watchOS 9.0.2 and have Oticon ON app on both iPhone and Apple Watch. Will let you know how handsfree works in a few days. Fingers crossed.

before anyone asks… 1.4.0 is still broken with todays latest iOS update… 16.1 Beta 5…

ugh

When you say “broken” can you be a little more specific? I just started testing 1.4.0 today.

I have brand new More 2 HAs (FW 1.4.0) and have had occasional streaming disconnects on one or both sides. When this happens, only streaming is affected; HA continues to work otherwise and it still shows up as “connected” in the Oticon ON app. Restarting the aid will fix the problem until it happens again.

I am running IOS 15.7 on my iPhone 12 Pro Max, so I don’t believe this has anything to do with IOS 16.

I have to agree with you, what I am reading defiantly points to the 1.4.0. My audiologist, on Friday said that Oticon is working just to get this straightened before the new VA contract November First.

It’s working fine for me. I am wondering why.
