I’m sure some folks will tell me to use “search”, I did and it is all but useless. So here’s question, I have Oticon more 1 miniRITE R HA’s, the receiver will not stay in my canals. I’ve used bigger domes without success. My thoughts are that the wire is to short and when I push the HA back behind my ear it pulls on the wire, would a longer wire work? Considering ear molds as my audiologist told me Oticon doesn’t make the rat tail I had with my Signia’s. I would appreciate feedback especially from Oticon users but all comments are welcome. Thank you!
@mbeaule56: This isn’t just an Oticon issue (look it up in “Search” if you don’t believe me). What does your audiologist say?
I’m sure it’s not a just a Oticon issue . I’m trying to get some information on what might work with Oticon’s. I’ve found the search feature to be lacking.
There are no fixes specific to Oticon. What is a “rat tail”?
On my Signia I had this plastic wires that fit over the receiver’s that helped hold them in. They worked well!
When you move your HAs to the proper position it should not stretch the wire to the point where it is pulling the receiver out of your ear canal.
Oticon does make ear grips. You have to order per receiver power (85, 60):
How do I determine what power my receiver’s are please?
Use your eagle eyes (and a magnifying glass) to read the business end of the receiver. It is printed there on one side, along with the size #2 #3, etc on the other side.
Thank you! I’ll look into them
No … the printing you’re looking for is on the side of the receiver … not inside it. But it is hard to read without a magnifying glass or loop.
Are those Opticon’s?
Oticon Opn, Oticon More uses the same miniFit receivers.
ETA: They are also color-coded 85=printed in orange, 60=printed in green
100=printed in black, though there are no eargrips for 100 receivers
They aren’t the More aids they maybe the OPNS aids.
Sorry for the above edits. It is difficult to talk about (size 2, 3, etc) and power (60, 85, 100, etc) without referring to both as size. Repeat; the hearing aids are Oticon Opn but Oticon More uses the same miniFit receivers.
Thank you all! Mine appear to be “100”. I didn’t see any ear grips for that size.
Any ideas what ear molds cost? I realize it’s different depending on audiologist and other factors. Trying to get a ball park
@mbeaule56:?Your audiologist should be able to quote you a exact amount.
I just paid $100 for Oticon MicroShell ear molds purchased and fit by my Audiologist. Took about 7-10 days for Audiologist to receive from Oticon. Haven’t had a chance to pick them up yet
Audiologist took impressions for skeleton ear molds. Replaced the receiver wires with #3 vs #2. Receivers still aren’t staying in as they should. 7-10 days to get the molds, charged me $200. Thanks again for the input
