Oticon More 1.4.2 firmware

An update forget about my previous post, this morning my aids and IPad and IPhone are back to the same old crap of battling for control. So I have removed my aids from the iPad and back to using my connect clip.

For those who have 1.4.1 installed, is the guidance to upgrade or not? Anyone report any differences or benefits?

thanks.

I upgraded from 1.4.1 to 1.4.2 because I think I would have to do it anyways at some point. I did not notice any difference.

From what I have read, I would not expect that you would. From what I read 1.4.1 was pulled because it was causing some of the More aids to brick due to a failed attempt at updating.

You people have me a little nervous. I pick up my More 1 aids next month. I hope to buy the connect clip later on.

The 1.4.2 installs a secret Soviet spy program that monitors one’s secret thoughts, so Stalin can use them against you. Be careful!

My hearing aids were updated to 1.4.2 yesterday. For the first time in months, they are working properly with my iPhone (iOS 16.2) and my ConnectClip.

I updated to 1.4.2 last week, and am running iOS 16.2 on my phone. I am still having some bluetooth issues with dropped connections, but it’s not as bad and it’s slightly different. Like everyone else who ran into this problem, 1.4 made my bluetooth disconnect a lot, and I would have to restart my aids to get them reconnected. Now, when I have a disconnect (which I would stress happens far less frequently than with 1.4), this disconnect is with the app, which causes a disconnect from the phone (the phone won’t even show the aids in the accessibility settings). This happens with one or both sides randomly. Restarting the aid actually does not solve the problem, but closing and restarting the app does. It’s quite odd, and still annoying, as I had almost no issues prior to 1.4

And yes, I know some people don’t even have the app installed, which might solve the problem, I don’t know. But a continued annoyance either way.

That has been the case with the app for me ever since it came out. I have stopped using the app an have deleted it from my phone. I don’t need it so why bother with the disconnects.

So the connections are more stable without the app installed?

They are for me. You would just have to experiment for your self. Now I must state that I only have the P0 default program and the TV Adapter. I never use the equalizer or the MoreSoundBoost. I have the Remote Control3 and the connect clip and I can use either for remote control of my aids. Also the iPhone control panel has the hearing device control that works great for me to control my aids.

Looks like I spoke too soon that the new firmware fixed the ConnectClip drop-outs. For some reason, it worked fine initially, but it’s back to the way it was before. Also like before, there is no problem with my Opn S and the ConnectClip. (I have two sets of hearing aids and ConnectClips.) I’m back to the Opn S hearing aids. Very disappointed with the More hearing aids.

Have you done a full reset of your connect clip then paired again.
Try forwarding this process I was given when I had my issues

How to pair aids to connect clip

Oticon suggested pressing all three buttons and holding them…the light will turn white, then red. Then place the aids in the charger and turn the connect clip on and take the aids out of the charger. The connect clip will pulse yellow looking for the aids and then green when it finds them. Then they suggested to forget the pairing on the phone and re pair it through bluetooth. Once repaired they suggested to turn on the remote microphone (hold large button till the light turns pink). If the remote mic works with no problem and keeps the connection it rules out the connect clip being the problems and then we could assume its an aid problem. If the aids are connected to the phone and the connect clip is the two will fight and usually the aids will win so there is a known struggle but we can start by seeing if the connect clip is working

I replied in the other thread, but I didn’t mention that the ConnectClips are not paired with either of my phones (iPhone or android), only with my laptop. The problem occurs ONLY when streaming from my laptop and ONLY with the More hearing aids, but not with the Opn S hearing aids.

Hi @cvkemp, that’s a wonderful news. I update soon to firmware 1.4.2 on the HA’s and tryout iPhone OS 16.3

Thanks

You mention the older aids too. Perhaps there has been a firmware update for the Connect Clip. I believe the fitting software can check and update that too.

I ask about a firmware update for the ConnectClip every time I visit and there isn’t one. I also asked Oticon and they said there isn’t an update. My ConnectClips aren’t the same age. I got one when I got my original Opn hearing aids and the other when I got the second set of More hearing aids. I’ve had two recent ConnectClips and two pairs of More hearing aids. Both had this problem. The original More hearing aids with 1.3.0 firmware worked fine. As soon as they were updated to 1.4.1, the problem with the ConnectClip began.

I am not doubting you but it seems strange, I have 4 connect clips here at home, 2 I am using with my OPnS1 and my More1 aids. The other two are useable but the batteries are failing due to age. But they all still connect and have no streaming issues. I have to admit that I use the connect clip more when I wear my OPNS1 aids because they don’t do as well with multiple connections as the More1 aids.
I am wondering if there isn’t something that your audiologist couldn’t do to reset the aids or connect clips to make them connect better. My audiologist tells me every time he has done an update to my aids that he cleared all connections from my aids and I will have to pair my aids to the needed devices. And he will remind me to do a reset to my phone and iPad and connect clip and TV Adapter and pair again. At first I thought it was overkill and should not be necessary but I am now a believer after reading the post on here and the Oticon Facebook page.

Do you how he clears the connections? Thanks
