Hi friends, have had minor hearing loss for some years. Developed mild tinnitus ~6 months ago that has flared to a more significant stage recently. No ENT would see me until I had a hearing test done and tests through local providers were 6-12 months out thru health care system. In sort of panic Googling I was able to get a hearing test at Beltone.
Based on the results I do want to get a hearing aid. Beltone was selling me on the Serenity 6 which I did like. Now that I’m out and researching there are so many companies and products that I feel lost and have no idea how to make choices. I am interested in something closer to Beltone model of full service instead of OTC but just can’t figure out how to start parsing this choice. Was hoping someone here might have a pointer to good resources to help. Thanks so much and happy to be here.
If insurance isn’t an issue and there’s a Costco somewhat nearby, I’d go to Costco. They have Jabra Enhance Pro 20 that would be very similar to Beltone hearing aid (except a lot less money)
You’ll have 180 days to decide if they’re what you want. If not, you can return for a full refund. Approximate price is $1600 for a pair of hearing aids.
Downsides to Beltone are 1)they tend to be pricy 2) are not well rated by Consumer Reports and 3)Last I heard their aids are “locked” meaning nobody because Beltone staff could program them.
The Beltone Serenity is what. . . the Resound Nexia? That’s a perfectly good hearing aid, you’d be fine in it. If you trust the provider, it’s a fine choice.
Just got fitted with the Jabra Enhanced Pro 20 hearing aids through Costco. Great service and the 120 day return policy. I have been extremely satisfied.
