New to hearing aids and this forum questions on Phonak receivers, domes

Hello, I have Phonak Audeo I 90-R aids with #1M-6.0 receivers, 90% of target program and sm vented dome (l) and medium vented (r).At 1st follow-up visit the rt dome was changed to medium as small was falling out. The program was changed as I was and am having trouble with understanding and hearing on the rt side. I realize that my needs may be complex due to my patterns of hearing loss.

After research and reading many posts here I have the following questions: does the m level receiver seem appropriate, especially for my rt ear? Should we be considering a different dome? My audiologist is very collaborative and listens but I will soon be at end of the trial period.
TIA for any recommendations.

Medium is ok, because of your reverse slope loss, personality I’d go with custom molds with the correct size vent, best fit and no “dropping out” with a canal lock, you say you have a great Audiologist so work with them to get the best results possible, maybe even ask to extend the trial for a few weeks more to get the results your looking for.

I have an audiogram that resembles your in some ways and use the Phonak I90 Spheres. I would suggest you try a P receiver in the right ear. If you decide to keep the Phonak Infinios I would agree with tenkan that using earmolds made by Phonak with vents based on your audiogram would be a positive step. I use and like Phonak’s cShell molds.

I agree with raylock1 above.
And the AuD, CAN extend the trial period. It really is ENTIRELY up to him.
Heck, I Have had many months extended sometimes. Just has to click a button in the software.
Also, If you are trialing aids, why not trial the Sphere. Say that you heard from many people they are great, and since you are investing in something that will last, and your right ear can use all the help it can get… why not trial a set of those.
And I ask them to explain the various materials of the molds. Cause they also come in Titanium! Discuss with them, the benefits of a deeper mold that closes off the outside sound more. What I don’t know, is if in cases like yours, if the aid should also handle low frequencies with little gain and no compression as well as the higher frequencies, so that the tonality and timing would be the same… and other processing features. If so you want a tight fit. Another issue is how your ears sweat or wax up. Lots to discuss. So it is good they have patience with patients.

Thanks for your response- do you happen to wear your HAs with glasses? I am interested if they fit with the Sphere as it is larger BTE

Here is how it looks on one old man with glasses
I wear RIE so the wire does not take hardly any space

I wear glasses and have no problem with the Phonak I90s. Interesting enough, I trialed the smaller Widex and they kept popping off my ears every time I removed my glasses.

Definitely agree with P receiver! That will ad better discrimination in more noisy situations independenty of Spheric features. I also wear glasses with no problem and with even 0R P receiver.

Good morning, I am still working through my adjustment phase and fortunately have a light professional schedule this week. As soon as I put my HAs in today there was static in both ears as if searching for something. ( Yesterday this happened when I forgot to exit the TV program.) Today nothing will fix it. All apps are up to date, I’ve turned Bluetooth on and off, turned the aids off and on, unpaired and re paired the aids and deleted and reinstalled the myPhonak app. Now the app won’t connect to my aids and iPhone Bluetooth says all 3 are connected. I have also turned Nordlayer on and off. They worked fine with it. Any advice is greatly appreciated TIA

Do you still hear the static with your phone turned off? Have you tried rebooting your hearing aids?

To do this press the lower part of the multi-function button for at least 15 seconds. It does not matter if the hearing aid is switched on or off before you start pressing the button. After 15 seconds, the hearing aid will restart with the indicator light blinking green (copied from the Infinio manual)

Yes, I still hear it with phone off and I did reboot them. They have also been chiming randomly. I have an appointment on Friday so if all else fails we can address it then.

I have older hearing aids. Paradise P90R’s and Power Receivers.

I finally learned to people here who really helped me some time ago. I got moulded inserts. SlimTips? from Phonak.

They are so much better for me. I hear better; I understand a little bit better. I don’t have to keep pushing in the inserts like I had to with the closed domes I used a long time. And finally, I’m not as exhausted as I used to be about 1:30 pm at work. That was due to difficulty hearing.

Finally, I keep reading comments. If I were buying hearing aids I would buy the most recent. I’m going to use them a long time.

It may be a problem with one or both receivers in which case your audi can replace them. If not I am guessing they will need to be sent to Phonak.

Thank you @raylock1. We have also ordered the Spheres for me to try.
