New firmware Oticon Real 1.1.0

i could update Genie 2 to version 2025.1 and this update provided the Firmware 1.1.2. for the Real HAs.

The companion never really says anything but that the aids are up to date. It really isn’t telling us the truth.

Maybe Europ has a headstart compared to the US on these version things?

I have an email in to my VA audiology clinics Oticon rep.

Probably not. I ran Genie (don’t remember the version but it was updated recently) this morning after reading about 1.1.2 and sure enough it offered the firmware update to my Real 1 aids. I didn’t update as I’m running Genie in Windows 10 using Bootcamp on an Intel CPU iMac and I’m not totally confident that a firmware update would be reliable.

As cvkemp states, the Companion app doesn’t seem to know about new versions. This morning I get: “Your hearing aids are already updated” in bold followed by: “However, your hearing care professional may recommend further updates during a visit.” Then: “Current version: 1.1.1”. I got a similar (unhelpful) report before I had my audiologist update the aids to 1.1.1. I now have version 1.5.1 of the Companion app which appears to be the current version.

I’m not convinced that Oticon puts much effort into their app - a long time ago (years) I reported a bug in how the app worked on an iPad when operated in what one would call landscape mode with an attached Apple keyboard. They responded saying it would be fixed in the next version. The bug has not been fixed through many subsequent versions …

What’s the firmware update for on an older platform actually for, not “bug fixes” I hope.

Yeah, I went onto Genie 2 and ran the Instrument Updater and sure enough it says that version 1.1.2 is available, so I went ahead and updated my Real 1s. Confirmed afterward on the Companion app that it now shows that I have version 1.1.2.

I tried to run the Genie 2 Check for Updates again but didn’t see the 2025.1 yet. Maybe it’s slower to be pushed out in the US. I remember last time the European folks got it before we did. @biggar → I see that you’re in Tuscon, AZ (I’m in Phoenix). So were you able to also get a Genie 2 2025.1 update like @firenzel did?

No. I still have 2024.2 Build 23.24.14. I ran the check for updates app and it didn’t find anything newer.

As for tenkan’s question, 3 things are listed:
1). Connectivity: Updates for improved connectivity with iPhone and iPad supporting faster connection and app start-up time
2). Tinnitus SoundSupport: Adds compatibility for the new Comfort pulse controls in the Oticon Companion app
3). General updates: Includes overall performance improvements

I am also under the impression that the mymusic program seems to sound different.
But that could of course be my imagination.
The strange overamplification in the lower mid frequency bands seems to be gone.
Maybe the firmware not only affects connection issues but also alters the general sound.

After upgrading the aids are reset. After coupling they are programmed with the last settings.
After checking I found that the options were different in 2 programs. It also recalculated al my gains. In the music programs for my piano in which I keep the C.R. at 1.4 and 1.5 everywhere, I had to manually adjust gains to get those values back again. So the application of the last settings doesn’t quite result in identical settings.

However, with my Real 1’s at firmware 1.1.2 I also do understand more. It’s harder to tune my girls out, they keep talking all the time. I hope I get used to it in a few days.

I’m using the beta 5.3.0 version of Companion on my iphone and android phone. The HAs were at 1.1.1 firmware. The app did not know about the 1.1.2 firmware. My Genie software was out of date, so I updated it to the newest version, which is 24-2. It offered the 1.1.2 firmware for my HAs, so I updated them.
