This morning I discovered that the myPhonak app on my iPhone was updated to version 7.1.0. Apparently the firmware version of hearing aids can now be updated, the navigation has been simplified and there are changes to the remote support video and sound. I can only verify that the navigation within the app has changed.
I just noticed that too!
The first thing I noticed is that the app connects to the hearing faster than it did before and once its connected, I can switch between modes a little more quickly as well.
Overall, I believe I appreciate the navigation update, though I’ll need to explore it further to be sure. A minor quibble: when using Automatic mode (AutoSense 6.0), it now takes two presses instead of one to check which program the hearing aid is in. Furthermore, if I’m in a hearing program like “Spheric Speech in Loud Noise” and I want to make a quick adjustment, I need to click the menu again to get access to the adjust button. Before, the adjust button was visible at all times. That said, the in-app firmware update feature could prove quite useful in the future and I like the drop down menu.
Also, there is now support for the Phonak Terra + hearing aids.
No news about auracast support yet, but maybe thats coming in a future firmware update. I don’t see anything relating to auracast in the app itself.
I also think many will be happy to see that now the “mute/unmute” button shows the hearing aids current status, while the text shows the action to change it.Also, when muting, you will now see a “Mute on” popup message. The split volume control button also got a text description below (which becomes “Combine L/R” if you tap on it). Small thing, but significant.
Oh thats a welcome change, thanks for pointing that out. The way they did it before was unintuitive and made no sense (or maybe just to the Swiss it did).
The new version of the My Phonak app also has widgets available, one of which allows you control volume, mute/unmute, program choice, and show the battery levels.
Updated on Android !
From the update note they added the compatibility for phonak terra hearing aids and revamped the home page !
It may be new firmware for hearing aid but we can’t update ourself on the app, i didn’t find the button ( and my HA are code locked anyway so i can’t do it myself ! )
i love the widget i can mute on the go, and when i change the volume the slider don’t split itself anymore !
Interesting! I also have an Android cell phone (Samsung Flip-4), so am pondering whether I should re-install the myPhonak app. I’d tried it about 1.5 yrs ago and found it UNDERWELMING to say the least.
My peeve back then was that the app came with pre-named settings like “Restaurant”, maybe “Music” or some such, but that is exactly what I wanted to create to my own specifics and name EXACTLY that! I couldn’t do it. I’d have to name the specific setting “Restaurant2” or some such thing? Anyway, I just thought the app was kind of a cludge.
Ideally, we should be able to update the firmware on our OWN aids ourselves using this app? But no! I had to go in to see my audi and have that done. On top of which, I only had the Phonak Lumity Life rechargeables at that time and even the charging BASE needed a firmware update at one point, so I ended up taking that in to my audi.
It seems that whenever there’s a firmware update for our aids (or the base) we are never ever told of it. Our audis are similarly in the dark. My audi never gets word from Phonak to reach out to all her Phonak customers with a text or email to let us know.
Considering that our purchase agreement has ALL our contact info on it (serial numbers, name, address, et al), why can’t Phonak make better use of this info for the practical use of UPDATES? Now, if they spam-marketed us with nonsense, that’d be a different issue. But I typically find out that my aids need a firmware update when something flaky starts happening (like they randomly re-boot).
Well, thanks for the notice on myPhonak app for Android!
I actually downloaded the new MyPhonak app User Guide and found a page devoted to the new firmware update feature. The app even displays the current firmware version number!
Thank you. Very helpful

Upon updating, the streaming function from iphone 13 to Naida UP does not function anymore. Now I am not able to communicate via the iphone, have to use speaker phone. The caller sound does not appear in the HA’s.
Trying to delete (forget device), soft reset, reinstallation - nothing works.
Problems solved for Naida UP. 1st delete both the device info. Install BT for master HA’s. Then pair again in the MyPhonal Apps. All the 3 items will be shown in the BT section of the iPhone.
The Support section of the Phonak website (US version) only has a User Guide for the older version of the app. A link to a page with a download link for the new User Guide is shown on either the Apple App Store, or the Google Play Store. Here is the link:
Phonak just gave me ANOTHER (the updated app) reason to leave my Luminity 90’s in the charger and use my Nexia 9’s
I’m grateful for the revised APP!
I had 2 issues before.
If I was in Autosense the Start Up program is Calm.
But it’s too quiet the way it’s set up…I always increase the volume by +2 (4dB)
If autosense switched programs to Speech in Noise, then later went back, myPhonak went back to the stored volume. And I couldn’t hear. First warning was a hit up side the head because I didn’t know I was being talked to…myAPP is fixed now! It goes back to the increaesed volume that I need.
Second…Before if I needed to select a stored program it took me quite a while. Take out the phone/start the APP/ /find the program…
Now the programs are displayed vertically and I can find what I want quickly.
@Michael_Phonak please thank the wonderful people at Phonak that made this happen. I’ve used myPhonak for 3 years 8 months and I truly appreciate this change.
Thanks for posting this.
Thanks bentsn1!! OK. You have WOWED me! I will share this info with my audi, cuz for this reason alone I think myPhonak app is a good idea. Now I’m going to download it again and see what it says!
My only other “outstanding” wish would be for myPhonak app to also display other accessories used by our aids - for me, specifically, that’d be the Roger mics (I have two of these devices). It’d be amazing if myPhonak app would show which aids are paired + connected to the Roger mic … and (well here, I really am dreaming!) allow us to pair + connect to the Roger mics instead of go through that 12-step cludge of pin-poke on the back side of the mic, then check for either “X” or a check-mark on the front side of the mic, yada yada.
EDIT: Also, correct me if I’m wrong, but myPhonak app only works with a SINGLE pair of aids. So for me, with two sets of 312-battery Lumity Life aids, I’d need to pick just ONE of them to control with the app. A bit of a sour lemon, cuz the whole point of having a “backup” pair of aids is to be able to swap one with the other and have instant, identical working pair. Hmmmmmm…
Yes the MyPhonak app currently only works with one set of aids. Since I also have a “backup” pair of aids, I just use the MyPhonak Junior app for my “backups". The app is not as full featured as the MyPhonak app, but still can be used to change programs or volume … and it does show the current firmware version. In my opinion, using the Junior app is a much better solution than constantly “forgetting” and then “re-pairing” aids.
The other option is to simply have two hand-held Phonak remotes … with appropriate labels!
Note that a remote will not work if the MyPhonak app is running on your smart phone … even if it is not the active app. You have to quit the app to use a remote! Choose to use one or the other.
In case you were wondering, the C label is for my Champagne colored Lumity aids.
When I was using this app with my Phonak HA I would find out about the updates only when the HA would no longer function properly with the app. Did they actually send you a notification of the update. I intend to go back to Phonak HA this year as I am quite unhappy with my current HA that are sold through TruHearing and made by Signia. They are (the only kind I can wear) BTE with custom earmolds. They do not stream directly to any bluetooth device except through the Signia Streamline Mic. This is not that a successful connection as it could be in my opinion.
