My hearing aids have tinnitus!

I’ve figured it out.
They’re smart hearing aids, but they have a disability.

I have background noise in each hearing aid.
Do I tune it out? I can switch from autosense to “speech in loud noise” And that rushing loud background noise is gone. I just have to use myPhonak.

The hearing aids have tinnitus.

Not an expert here, but I’ve had hearing aids that crackle in the past. Usually it’s due to an obstruction in the molds or tubes, but sometimes there was a mechanical problem with the electronics.

I had a problem where I had both crackling and then total loss of audio.

It was suggested by @kevels55 that the receiver might be failing and so it was. New receiver and all works as it should.

I was outside.
I live half way between two major highways; and under the flight path from an international airport. Planes overhead? It’s about 75 dB. Without planes its 42to50 dB…

My Paradise Audeo P90R’s are 3 years old. Just replaced by Phonak under warranty. (Hallelujah!) I have new 5.0 power receivers with the old fashioned wax guards. The 4.0 receivers were awful. the frisby case ones.

Autoset 4.0 is a pain. I can’t tell what program Im on if I change programs. And I can’t get back to the automatic mode unless I boot the myPhonak app.

I was outside and realized that whatever program I ws in i had a wooshing noise going on. I changed programs and the woosh was gone. I think that I had switched t the next program, “speech in loud noise” The quiet was so much better.

My thought was that darn woosh sounds exactly like my tinnitus. Clearly my Phonaks have tinnitus!

Way back…I got my Phonak Paradise hearing aids. The dispensing audi gave up after 1-1/2 years. He fired me. I just wanted to hear.

My new hearing instrument specialist has been excellent. I hear better. But I don’t hear well enough.

In two years I hsall be able to get new hearing aids from workman’s compensation.

I’d say learn the tones that play when you switch into a program. It tells you which program it is. And the default (automatic) is fairly distinctive if you can never remember the differences in the tones. Keep doing long press until you get back to the beginning.
