My comparison of Phonak Infinio Sphere with new Resound Vivia

@DamonHill I wouldn’t put it that way—it’s just different and doesn’t meet my specific needs.

Resound doesn’t offer as much detailed control over frequency shifting as Phonak does. It provides four preset options: very mild, mild, moderate, and strong, each with its own maximum audible input and output frequencies. None of the settings work well for me personally, but they could be ideal for someone else.

Yes, Josh Alexander is great. Unfortunately very few audiologists want to mess with it.

Jordan… just curious you stated that phonaks adapted better to changes in listening enviroments … was that based on your older ReSound HA’s or have you trialed the new Vivia’s??

I haven’t tested the Vivia’s. My experience is based on Resound’s Quattro and Omnia models. My point is that their automatic program wasn’t as sophisticated as Phonak and didn’t adapt as well to changing listening environments. Doesn’t mean they were bad. Just means that their automatic program uses a different approach compared to Phonak and I personally found it wasn’t as sophisticated at optimizing hearing when you moved between different hearing scenarios.

It could be that this has improved in the Vivia platform.

That course is 12- hour of frequency lowering…!

Thanks for the trust @DaveL  but I can really not tell … to my knowledge the Brand/Name/Model should always be part of the device. Your Audi should know where to look for it.
Concerning your other offer, well noticed thanks.
But it is not so easy. In Europe we are suffering from many changes on the regulatory side (“Politics”), which made it much more complex to talk to consumers directly without prior legal blessing, eventually Ethics Commission approval, etc., pp.
The good old days of chatting directly has got so much more complex, I think it is a shame and those people making such regulatory frameworks did not really think through the consequencies.

@Michael_Phonak

Thanks Michael.
I’m very grateful for the action taken. The hearing aids work better. Battery life is longer too

I’m impressed with the care provided by Phonak

@jblalack, I do not know if the pixel has the same setting as the Samsung Galaxy but there is a setting you can search for, “never auto sleeping apps”. If it is there, add Smart 3D to that list. It stops lots of disconnects from the HAs. I no longer get them on my Galaxy S23 Ultra.

Actually I just found this:

To prevent Pixel apps from being auto-sleeped and potentially disconnecting, you can manage background usage settings within the app’s settings or explore options like “Allow background usage” or “Never sleeping apps” in your Pixel’s battery settings.

I hope this helps.

It’s a whole new chip design and DNN with AI. It should be remarkably different than previous generations and on par or even better than Phonak Spheres. I just returned my Sphere’s because they were horrible in speech clarity and noise. Ordered the new Vivia 9’s. We shall see.

I’m really interested. My Paradise P90R’s are 3-1/2 years old. They’re brand new. Warranty replacement at about 3 years…Thank you Phonak!

When I had my new moullded inserts attached with new Power Receivers, the ReSound Manager for eastern Canada attended. I was impressed with her. She helped a lot.

Wish I could get some loaner Vivia’s!

Would you post your audiogram so we can have a better context to understand your results. Thanks

I can never remember either.

Last REM appointment I was told I must have had an infection when my hearing test was done.

My Audiogram supposedly improved. I haven’t posted it. I can’t remember how.

I may buy EarPods so I. Can do their hearing test. Just kidding! Well, semi serious

Thanks. It’s posted.

@PastorDale I see that you have very good hearing in the low frequencies. Most if not all audiologists would normally suggest open domes so that you could hear those frequencies naturally. Unfortunately the Phonak Sphears do not handle noise well with open domes. This is because the open domes allow noise to be passed directly to the ear without being processed by the hearing aid. Hence the noise reduction function of the Sphere does not have an opportunity to work. I will have to let someone else take a crack at the poor speech quality. I would think it might be due to the set up.

Your audiogram is very similuar to mine … I find that molds with just a pressure vent or Power domes work best for me. Both of those allow enough low frequency sound in for my liking.

How did it go? I have Phonak m90, waiting ti try out Vivia 9 this summer. I’ve heard about bad setting adjustments for the audi in Vivia as well as really bad performance in tests. I hope the rumors are wrong, I’d really like them to be good because of great battery and small devices. Sphere isn’t available to me yet, and I really hate that they are huge
