Hi! New here.
Ive always had mild hearing loss in both ears. But have been fine. Recently had an ear infection, took amoxicillin and it cleared. Never ruptured. Over a few days my hearing left me in the right ear.
I called into my ENT, they got me in an hr later for an audio and appt w/dr. I was diagnosed w/moderate mixed conductive and sensorineural hearing loss in right ear and restricted hearing of left. He checked out my ears w/a microscope machine thing, infection gone, no fluid in either ear. Still intact/no rupture. Small spot of dry blood on other side of right ear drum.
Hes stumped but says probably from the infection. Says to wait two months and hopefully it comes back to my baseline. So i have a follow up for 2 months out. Is there anything else i can do at this point? Is it really likely to come back? I feel real worried that its not going to come back.
Seek a second opinion from another ENT, just in case. Quickly. Find previous audiogram tests and take them to him/her. Ask about the possibility of sudden sensorineural deafness.
In unexplained situations, you should have a hearing sooner, maybe in a few days.
Your post isn’t accurate, you didn’t write which ear was affected by infection, I don’t know what “restricted hearing of left” means (conductive? sensorineural?). It could be good. to enter your audiogram in your profile for getting more accurate advices.
My mistake! Infection was in my right ear. Im not sure but i assume the restricted means that i am and have been around 25/30db loss on both ears since late teens. Theyve never told me conductive or sensorineural until yesterday. Left ear is just at the 25/30db loss…doesnt say conductive or sensorineural.
I will look into uploading the audio on here. Thanks for the reply!
