Hi. I’ve got Oticon Intent 1 and noticed in church bulletin today about using "listenwifi " to get the audio streamed to my aids, but I couldn’t get it to work… I followed instructions, connecting to “guest” wifi, downloaded the app (listenwifi) to my iphone, but I couldn’t get it to work… anyone use this? I’ve sent email to the church and to the listenwifi folks as well… just wondering if there’s anything other setting I have to worry about? Or do I have to use “connect clip” to get this to work? TIA ’ here’s what was in the church bulletin
First off hearing aids aren’t WiFi enabled. Maybe they are talking about someway to connect your phone to the system and streaming the audio to the aids.
Also the connect clip isn’t Wifi enabled that wouldn’t work either.
It is an app to install on your phone then connect that app and your phone to the venue’s sound system. Then have your aids paired to the phone

Wow!! Worked flawlessly right out of the box, Literally! I had done some easy configuration of the theaters guest network ahead of time, plugged in the audio, network, & power, streaming to devices started without any extra effort. If there is ANY sizable latency, I don’t hear it. This App(& accompanyng hardware) will add a valuable component to my preforming art center’s assisted listening system. …NOTE: A venues poor deployment of their network assets, is NO fault of the APP,or Listen Tech.

A poorly executed great idea. I was very disappointed as I went to the drive in and wanted to stay for the second movie as my son slept. I was happy to see that I could listen to the movie on my phone through the app. Just getting the app to work on my phone was tedious. Once I got it working the app sound kept going in and out, was delayed when working, and full of static white noise.

I am sorry to hear that the audio quality and latency was unacceptable. Typically, this is due to poor Wi-Fi network conditions at the venue. If you could, please reach out to support@listentech.com, or have someone at the Venue reach out to us so we can help solve this problem. Thanks!

I was excited to see this app having expectations to “hear” theater again. We went to an open captioned performances at our local theater, and while I could “hear” through my cochlear implants, the sound was slightly off, making for an echo effect. It was too annoying, and I went back to reading captions.

Right. Guess I wasn’t clear. I know it’s an app. I connected to the guest WiFi and then downloaded the app- but I couldn’t get the audio to go to the phone /aids.
Are you sure the venue was broadcasting. It looks like you have to connect to their system by way of a wifi connection.
Well I connected to the “guest” WiFi, downloaded the app , opened up the app and saw one channel “church” and clicked on that.
Then you need to talk to someone that has been successful at using it or to someone on the church staff that knows. How thwir setup works. And I would be interested in knowing how it does work ad I haven’t heard of it before.
The Deacon at a church I go to mentioned this.
Nothing has become of it.
Yes, I sent email to the church to see what they know, etc… I’ll be interested if I can get it to work, how it will sound eg, will it be just the voices, or the church music too, etc… stay tuned
When I stream audiobooks or calls, sometimes it takes a bit of work to get the app to know I want it to stream the audio to my aids. Even if your aids are paired with your phone, sometimes you have to turn Bluetooth off and back on or exit the app and reenter or sometimes there is an audio menu where you can select what path your want the audio to take. It sounds like you were very close and maybe just needed to ensure the app knew to stream. You could have tried streaming from another app you use often for streaming to double check your connection and then go back into the ListenWiFi app. The ListenWiFi user guide also suggests other ways to listen like plugging in headphones or a neckloop to your phone, which then tethers you to your phone and you’d likely need an adapter since phones removed headphone jacks. So the app may handle audio in more than one way and that can trip up streaming. If you try it again, you could try plugging in to your phone to make sure you’re on the right track with the channel and app but I think you are and that’s probably too much of a hassle.
What model and maker is your smartphone ? Is it a iPhone or an Android phone?
Are you able to stream phone calls or audio from the phone to the Oticon Intents?
iphone 12 pro, and yes I stream other audio from the phone just fine
I really didn’t spend the entire time I was there fiddling with this … I sent email to both the church folks and the Listenwifi support so I’ll see what they say… it’s a challenge since I won’t be able to “test” it out until I’m back in church and can connect to their wifi, etc …
The Mesa Arts Center (in Mesa, Arizona) has this accessibility system installed in their theaters. I attended a storytelling slam on 2/6 and had some issues at first. 1. you have to use the theaters wifi connection - my phone kept choosing guest and the theater has a specific wifi connection to use the app. 2. once I was connected if I selected anything other then the theater I was in, I’d have to run out and find an usher to reconnect to the correct wifi channel.
Once connected though, it was wonderful heard everything that was happening on stage, the opening announcement and the intermission music.
Thanks… the bulletin said to connect to the “guest” wifi in the church, which I did… still waiting to hear back from them…I look forward to seeing how it does!
Have you gotten it to work? Do you know how to switch audio from your hearing aids to the iPhone speaker or vise versa. Once you are connected to the correct WiFi network that contains the ListenWifi platform, the audio will be streamed to your iPhone thru the ListenWifi app. If the sound is going to your iPhone speaker instead of your hearing aids, switch it to your hearing aids. Look for the icon that is a rectangle with 3 curved lines in the lower left corner AND/OR the icon that is a rectangular with black triangle in the middle of the bottom side, and those should bring you to a menu that will allow you to select your hearing aids (it might be labeled by your name). I hope this helps.
Hi. Thanks… I haven’t been to church again yet… will go this afternoon … when you say “look for the icon, etc” do you mean in the ListenWifi app? Since I’m not there now, I can’t check it now … in the “demo mode” the audio comes up automatically and there’s no icon at the bottom like you describe…
also, I normally have my phone on
“do not disturb” when I’m there… last week I did turn that off, but still didn’t have audio and it wasn’t coming through the iphone speaker either…
I was speaking from my experience of playing a YouTube video on my iPhone for someone, and the audio was going straight to my Oticon Intent HAs, so I had to figure out how to switch the audio from my HAs to the iPhone speaker, and I discovered that I had to click on the icons that I described. I can’t really try out the ListenWifi app because it will connect ONLY to a WiFi network that offers ListenWifi, and I’m not in the vicinity of a network that does. I’m thinking once you get the audio coming to your iPhone thru the ListenWifi app, you can switch it to your HAs, or maybe it’ll happen automatically since you said you have no problem streaming other content from your phone to the Oticons. I’m pretty sure tech support at your church or at ListenWifi will get u there.
Thanks…All I remember seeing on the app last week was the “speaker” icon at the bottom… ListenWiFi couldn’t help me since I wasn’t connected… they did offer to help if I’m at the venue, etc … kind of awkward to try and do that in the middle of the church service though … I’ll go early today and see if someone there can help… stay tuned…
