Jabra Pro 30 and TV Streamer SAS-3 (older model)

I just got the Jabra Pro 30 HA’s from Costco and am getting used to them. I had older Costco Jabra’s from about 3 years ago, not sure what the model was, but I did have the Jabra/Resound TV streamer that I got from Costco after I got my first HA’s there. The model is SAS-3 and it’s the one with the green and yellow LEDs on the front and the chrome/silver section on the bottom of the front.

I have followed the directions that came with the original streamer but I cannot get the Jabra App to find the streamer, and there is no page for the TV streamer in the app like there was before.

Is this something that must be done by Costco? Right now the only ‘page’ I have in my app is ‘All-around’, where I used to have Music, Restaurant, and another I don’t recall.

Can anyone enlighten me? THANKS!

Sounds like you have EP 10s. Are you sure you don’t have a ‘TV Streamer 2’? Or do you have a streamer that worked for an older ReSound HA?

IIRC, Costco has to turn on a TV streamer feature for the aids to be bale to use it. They certainly have to turn on additional programs to use them.

I have the original Jabra’s and the new 30’s with the sas-3 tv streamer. You need to pair the streamer to your aids, not your phone or app. Once they pair to the streamer they will populate the app. You dont even need a phone or app to pair aids to the tv streamer. Heres how i pair to streamer (not sure its the way they instruct but it works for me) Turn on tv connected to streamer. Either turn off aids or put them in the charger with the streamer close by. The press the pair button on the back of the streamer (look for blinking light showing pairing mode), then quickly remove your aids from charger or cycle them on and place them next to the streamer. Usually they will pair 1st time and both lights on front stay solid and mine immediately start streaming. If the lights stay solid showing they are paired and not streaming, either give the left aid one push of the button or use the app and it should show the streamer at the bottom and the lityle arrow on the right should be green. Let us know

Wow! Thanks everyone for the fast response. I posted a picture of the TV Streamer for clarification.

So I followed Jinxed’s instructions and the thing actually did pair! I saw the lights come on and it appears that the pairing took place.

However, I believe that philbob57 is correct. They are not going to work until the Costco people activate that panel in the phone app. I am scheduled to go back there in a week or so, at which time I hope to have them reactivate the other settings in the app.

So hopefully this thing will work and I won’t have to shell out the $250 for the Streamer 2+.

Thanks again

So once you pair them to the aids, are you hearing the tv thru your aids? Here is a pic of both of my tv streamers in the app.
One thing to mention, were your old aids paired to the same streamer ans you could see the streamer is the app? If so, your old

aids may still be paired to the streamer.

I would just buy a cheap Homespot Auracast transmitter from Amazon for 50 bucks.

Would you know how to use that transmitter when using eArc hdmi to a soundbar at the same time? My soundbar only has hdmi passthru. The only way i can see how is to change from hdmi to toslink and get a toslink splitter so one lead goes to my soundbar and one goes to the transmitter. But then i lose the ability to adjust the soundbar using my tv remote and have to use the soundbar remote along with the tv remote

This is probably not what you want to do.
I have a Logitech remote.
It controls all of my devices.
Roku, Samsung TV, Samsung DVD and a Yamaha sound bar.
I just choose which device I want to control.

I hadnt thought of a high quality universal remote. Thanks for the suggestion. How much did you pay for your remote?

Not sure. It wasn’t expensive. At least to me.
Bought it at Target.
You use a computer to program it.

jinxed,

I see the ‘bar’ at the lower section of the app, as shown below. When I hit the PLAY icon, it turns to a green wav form display, I hear a BEEP in the hearing aids, but no TV audio. After about a minute, it times out, beeps again, then the icon returns to a play icon. I think I am missing something in the app software. Like I said, the only setting I currently have is ‘All-Around’

FWIW:
We use an optical splitter and it works great with either an older TV Streamer 2 and a newish TV Streamer+. The TV and the sound bar are both LG, which probably helps. We use an Apple box too, btw. Soundbar volume adjustments work with our two LG remotes. For other (rare) soundbar adjustments i use the LG app on my GS25 android while my wife (iPhone user) keeps the soundbar remote as well as the Apple remote handy.

Ok, Try paring the aids again, but press the pair button on the back of the streamer twice to get it to pair to the second program. Maybe the streamer has been previously paired to your old aids or the multimic and those are stuck in the 1st pairing. If it pairs to your aids after pushing the pairing button twice then at the bottom of the app you should see “SEE ALL DEVICES”. Click that and then click the 2nd paired device which would be your current aids. Compare my prvious pic which shows both devices after i click on SEE ALL DEVICES…

I haven’t seen any streamer that uses HDMI.

I can’t see the details of the back of your streamer, so I looked at mine. Sure enough, my ‘TV Streamer 2’ label says the model is SAS-3.

Do you have the manual? If not, it’s here: https://www.resound.com/-/media/resound/resound-us/downloads/user-guides/400248011-ug-tvstreamer2.ashx?la=en-us&hash=15E25BEFD610567C23E0939DF2D012C3048E5CAD. Deep in the manual, this can be read:
“Your hearing instrument and the TV Streamer 2 were given a unique communication network code during the fitting. This ensures that TV Streamer 2 will not affect hearing instruments worn by others.”

That says to me that something has to be done in setup to allow use of the streamer, but I could be wrong about that. Why not call Costco and ask the experts?

I bought both of my streamers on ebay. Fitter didnt even know i had them until after i had been using them. I saw the below on resound site. “The software” refered to is SmartFit. Not sure if it has anything to do with this, just fyi

Enable/disable pairing and connectivity: Although pairing is initiated through the TV streamer itself and the hearing aids, the software can manage which streamers are paired and potentially enable/disable automatic streaming when a streamer is detected within range

Jinxed - Thanks so much. I’ve been away from home for a few days but am heading back today. This afternoon I will try it this way. Yes, it was paired to my old Costco Jabra’s from 3 years ago that I no longer use, so maybe that’s the complication. I will let you know, and again, thanks!

Resound/Jabra have changed some things about the pairing process for accessories with the Vivia/EP30 compared with earlier models.

What I discovered first by reading the instructions inside SmartFit and from my own experience of pairing the Vivias with accessories is that you have to put the hearing aids really close to the accessory, Resound say within 50 mm (that’s 2 inches) and the pairing process takes up to a minute per hearing aid. It automatically pairs with one aid and then goes on to the second aid.

I assume this changed process is to stop someone unintentionally pairing something to hearing aids that were just turned on and so are in pairing mode, but just passing by, so to speak.

I don’t know if this applies to the Vivia/EP30 when pairing with old streamers, but for what it’s worth it does apply to pairing with any BT low energy audio accessories.

UPDATE: So I did what Jinxed suggested and paired the HA’s to Channel 2 of the SAS-3. They paired fine. In fact, now it does show SEE ALL DEVICES and I can select from TV/Micro-Multi Mic A and TV/Micro-Multi Mic B. But again, neither one gives me TV audio, and the icon goes green but then beeps and goes back to a play icon.

PS - I put them right up next to the thing, and they did indicate that they paired

Yeah that’s quite different from the earlier way of doing things, 50mm is literally right next to it!
