Excuse me. You seem a little hostile. I guess I shouldn’t post about my lousy experience with Costco on this public forum because it’s different from yours, and that is unacceptable. Sorry I’ve upset you.
Ummm no you haven’t upset me at all, what makes you think anything I’ve said is hostile?yeah we have different opinions, but no need to take it personally! I’m sure your genuine in your experience, it’s unfortunate but for most people they are getting great results and service, so no need to be sorry, cheers
Neroth8, I don’t see where tenkan was hostile at all. Understand that you are not the only person that has had a bad experience at Costco.
On-the-other- hand, many folks have posted here about doctors of audiology that have given them a bad experience.
Now I will give you something hostile to think about. You responded completely off subject, which is dragging the thread off the original question.
I got fitted with the Jabra E/H Pro 20s in December 2024. I have had absolutely terrific service from Costco. I called for an appointment last week and a half ago to return the Jabra 20s for the new Jabra 30s. Everything went very smoothly and I now have updated to the latest Jabra hearing aids. The only problem with Costco, is that getting an appointment with your hearing aid specialist may require a few days notice. However, these are my first experience with hearing aids so I have no experience with making appointments with private audiologists.
I also had a mediocre to poor experience at Costco with the technicians in the HA area. Once I was fitted and out the door I have been on my own. No, they don’t answer the phone, and when I dropped by for a checkup after wearing the aids for 4 months, they asked me what the problem was. I finally gave up and left the store. I suppose you get what you pay for in this case. But, others have had good success. It depends on the store.
I’m surprised that you experienced such poor customer service. When I was first fitted with hearing aids initially, the hearing specialist made a follow-up appointment about two weeks later, before I left the store. Whenever, I call, and no one answers, I leave a message and someone returns my call within a couple of hours. When I come in for my appointment they are always within plus or minus five minutes wait time. Considering the numbers of hearing aid customers they serve, they have the system down to a science. The only issue is that, if I call for an appointment with my hearing aid specialist, I may not be able to get an appointment for up to two weeks. However, considering the monitory savings, that’s a small inconvenience. Most of my colleagues were in the military, and they tell me getting hearing aid appointments at the VA can take a very long time. Of course, they get them for free as a benefit for serving their country.
Costco’s policy is that they will clean your hearing aids anytime you come into the store, and they will return them within about twenty minutes. Also, they will supply you with wax filters and replacement domes for as long as they still carry the model you purchased. Prior to sending my Jabra Enhanced Pro 20s back to GN to replace the shells because the microphone holes became easily clogged. I was returning them for cleaning numerous times and never waited for them more than twenty five minutes. Since the new shells, which have filters for microphones, I haven’t replaced the wax filters nor the domes for over a month. They will replace those filters also gratis as they are very small.
Never ever think that if you pay more that somehow you get “better service” your right tho, some are better then other’s and this I’m afraid can be said of any other local clinic.
Bob, thanks for posting this. I bought my Jabra 20s less than 2 months ago, and was disappointed that a new model has already come out. Since you had no trouble swapping yours out for the new model, I’m planning to do the same thing as soon as I can get an appointment.
You should also have no problem. The refund policy, which you received when you purchased your 20s, has a 180 days refund policy. What I did to make the process even easier, when the return person gave me the refund, I took it in a Costco gift card. This way, the hearing aid person swiped the gift card for the refund on the 20s and then charged me the $100 increase for the 30s on my Costco card. In Texas there’s no sales tax on hearing aids.
BTW be sure to bring back everything with your 20s, including the box, the hanger, the charging cord and brushes. Yout new 30s will have everything new.
I was recently told that I need to make an appointment to have my aids cleaned. YMMV
At my local Costco, I drop them off at the Hearing Aid center and they will clean them in about 30:minutes. I always buy something while they clean my hearing aids.
This neighborhood in Denmark, just north of Copenhagen, has been a center for hearing aid manufacture for decades. I forget which other companies are located nearby, but several are, or were, when I used to visit there (for other reasons) about 20 years ago.
I always make an appointment for cleaning because I ask the tech to also change the domes to new ones, and to make sure there’s a new POWER receiver on them too. I found that the power receiver has made all the difference in the world for me. I have K10s! So I don’t mind making the appointment because then I get more done. When I make the appointment I always make sure that I’m getting enough time for all this so they don’t rush me out!
Every time I bring mine in for cleaning, they replace the wax filters, domes, and vacuum the hearing aids. That’s without an appointment.
Yesterday we were told at our 2 week appointment (to check for adjustments) no appointment needed to bring them in to clean. Similar to @Flyboybob I think Costco is happy to have us spend some time in the store and likely buying other stuff…
They also gave us a bunch of domes and wax filters (with a tool to change them) and it looks easy enough to clean them ourselves. No real wax build up and they looked fine after a couple of weeks use so far.
Same experience with Kaiser . And when I got the appointment , it felt very hurried . My fitting took 15 min and , when I complained , I was told “you will get used to them” even though I have been wearing ha for a long time. The audiologist did an in-situ test, clicked on “sound recover2” and sent me home.
The Kaiser fitting was so bad that I came to this forum and learned about the DIY . My Costco experience was miles better than Kaiser.
I presently have 2 of the Jabra Enhance Pro 20 hearing aids. I really like them but I do find I still have a problem understanding voices in noisy restaurants or meetings.
Has anyone found them to be superior in these conditions than the Pro 20s?
Also are these the same small size as the Pro 20s? Do they use the same charger?
Any information is greatly appreciated
Nick
The Jabra Enhanced Pro 30 seems better at improving voices in noisy environments, that I’ve experienced so far, than the 20s. They’re not earth shattering better but an improvement.
The Pro 30s are the exact same size as the 20s.
My original Jabra Enhanced Pro 20s, required professional cleaning weekly. My Costco hearing aid specialist sent them back to GN, the manufacturer, who replaced the shells with a redesigned version with microphone replaceable filters. This solved the problem and I haven’t returned to have them cleaned for over a month. The new model, 30s incorporate the same changes.
Me, too, and I love Kaiser for all my other health care, including some pretty serious stuff. But their hearing care def didn’t work for me! Costco is the only way to go. (not really, but it’s not failed me yet, after many years and several aids).
