Hello everyone, first timer here. I just picked up my new Jabra Enhance Pro 20 hearing aids from Costco today. I wanted the disposable battery versions instead of the rechargeable versions. The hearing aids I was replacing were Resound-branded that I got from Costco back in 2018. Anyway, I have a couple of Resound accessories: the Multi-mic and the TV Streamer 2 and before buying the Jabras, I made sure the Resound accessories would work with the Jabra hearing aids. Well, they do work just fine. But I do have one problem/complaint and I’m not sure it can be corrected in a setting that I’m missing or if I just have to live with a little bit of inconvenience. My TV Streamer 2 is paired with my Jabra hearing aids and working fine. The problem I have is that with my old Resound-branded hearing aids, I could push down and hold the little button on the top of my hearing aids for a few seconds…longer than the very short amount of time that you would hold the button to change the 4 pre-set programs of the hearing aids…and when I would hold the button down for a few seconds, it would initiate the connection between my hearing aids and the TV Streamer 2. Then, when I wanted to disconnect the TV Streamer 2 from my hearing aids, I’d just push the button on the top of one of the hearing aids very briefly, and it would disconnect the hearing aids from the TV Streamer 2, and return to regular function. With the Jabras, the only way I can connect to the TV Streamer 2, and the only way I can disconnect from the TV Streamer 2, is with the Jabra Enhance Pro app on my iPhone. And when connected to the TV Streamer 2, the buttons on the top of the hearing aids control the volume and have no effect on connecting or disconnecting to the TV Streamer 2. Is this just something I have to live with or is there a setting somewhere to change the function of the buttons on the tops of the hearing aids, to connecting and disconnecting the hearing aids to the TV Streamer 2? Thanks for any help.
This can be corrected in SmartFit software I believe, so your local Costco will need to change the button configuration.
I was unaware that the Jabra E/H Pro 20 are available from Costco with replaceable batteries.
Yes, they are available for use with disposable batteries. I specifically asked about that because I listen to podcasts all day at the gym and working in my yard. My old Resound hearing aids used 312 size batteries and between the podcasts and using the TV streamer, I’d burn through my batteries every 2-3 days, and they would often die in the middle of the day. So I did not want to not be able to pop in new batteries if that were to happen with my new hearing aids. My new Jabras use size 13 batteries which are definitely larger in thickness and presumably will last longer, and I still can replace them if they die in the middle of the day.
I learn something new daily. Thanks.
PROBLEM REOLVED - I talked to Jabra’s Costco tech support. There is programming that must be done at Costco by the hearing aid people to change the function of the buttons on the top of the hearing aids. That being said, mine, it turns out, were programmed properly for my needs from the start. Here is how they work: The buttons on top of my hearing aids are rocker buttons, not in-out buttons like my previous Resound hearing aids. Once the hearing aids are paired to the TV streamer, to activate the streamer to play through the hearing aids, you press the rocker button backwards on either one of the hearing aids, and hold it in the backward-rock position for a couple of seconds, and the multi-upward-chime sound that occurs indicates the connection to the TV streamer. Then, to increase or decrease the volume being piped into the hearing aids by the TV streamer, very briefly rock the rocker button backwards to decrease the volume or rock the button forward to increase the volume. Do this multiple times to increase the volume in multiple increments. Then, to disconnect the hearing aids from the TV streamer, rock the rocker button forward and hold it for a couple of seconds, and you will get the single chime, double chime, triple chime, or quadruple chime of the setting that the hearing aids were previously set to before connecting to the TV streamer. When not connected to the TV streamer, rocking the button forward very briefly, will increase the volume of the hearing aids and rocking backward will decrease the volume of the hearing aids. When not connected to the TV streamer, rocking the button forward and holding it for a couple of seconds will advance you to the next of the 4 programmed settings of the hearing aids. Repeat to go the the next setting, etc. until you get to program #4 and then rocking the button again will return you to program #1. Hope this helps others and if anything I said here is not clear, please post your question and I’ll try to answer it.
