Jabra Enhance Pro 20 Bluetooth needs constant re-pairing connection to hearing aids [Android]

[Android] It seems that Jabra Enhance Pro 20 requires constant re-pairing bluetooth connections to the hearing aids when placed back in the charger. The hearing aids loses all Bluetooth connections to the Jabra app and requires going back to the Jabra app to re-pair connection. This happens every single time, the hearing aids is placed back in the charger. This happens every day.

To re-pair the connections, this requires going back to the Jabra App and going step by step guide of pairing the hearing aids via Bluetooth connections.

Does anyone know a fix for this?

Sometimes just toggling BT off then back on works. If not, i have to go into my Settings, then Connections, then Bluetooth, then click My Hearing Aids. But i dont have to re-pair them.
Are you saying when you open the app it is asking to pair your aids like when new?

I mostly agree with Mr_C although sometimes his procedure didn’t work and had to go through repairing. I was so disgusted that a “premium” hearing aid required all this that I returned them. Don’t know why android users have to be second class to apple users!

Search for “never auto sleeping apps” in the Android settings. Add the EnhancePro app to there.

The app runs in the background even if you kill it and it can get put to sleep. I had a lot of disconnect reconnects with the app especially in the mornings when I took them out of the case. Before I did this it required doing what others had described above (toggling Bluetooth).

Now it just makes a beep as it reconnects to my hearing aids in the morning. But no Bluetooth toggling required.

For instance, my app has been running for 90 hours in the background.

You can check it by tapping the bottom left button of the screen. Then you’ll notice in the upper left corner a few words that describe background apps. Tap that and it will take you to where you can see which apps are running in the background.

I’ve never had to repair my hearing aids to the app. At other times I simply do what was described above by others and toggle Bluetooth. This is typical ASHA protocol behavior with HAs that support it, as it is not perfect. And I typically no longer need to do anything in the mornings.

I wish you luck, I love my Jabras.

Yes. It shows the hearing aids is NOT paired with the jabra apps. So i have to go through the entire process of re-pairing the HA again.

After linking the hearing aids to the Jabra Pro apps, if you place in back in the charger and then take it out, it loses blue tooth connection. You have to do the entire re-pairing again. Tried the turn on and off bluetooth method, this did not work. Also, there is no auto sleep mode in the setting.

It sounds like there is something wrong with your hearing aids. I heard they had a batch that had problems. I understand that they found the issue and fixed it in new hearing aids.

I have had none of these issues with mine

What phone do you have?

I have the same trouble using my iPhone, altho the built-in iPhone app usually works, if the Jabra one doesn’t.

How do i check if my Hearing Aids is the older or newer batch? I have the Z3 Motorola.

The Motorola G8 is listed in their compatibility chart. The Z3 is not listed and is an older phone. I would be sceptical about it working well with the Jabras.

I do not know how to tell which ones are defective. I might go there and ask about swapping them out.

Good luck.

With 5 years of use of Resound (a GN company, like Jabra) Quattros, and now for the first time one month into my Jabra Enhance aids, one HA or the other and sometimes both occasionally won’t connect. I have an Iphone 13Pro for the last 2 yrs or so. This has worked for me EVERY time to fix the problem. Turn my phone off, wait a few seconds, and turn the phone back on. You probably already tried that…but just in case I thought I’d mention it.

After the constant annoying Bluetooth issues with my Jabras and my Samsung Galaxy S23 phone, I was able to return my Jabras just before the 180 day return period. I got the Rexton Reach HAs and they’ve been terrific. No need to re-pair, restart my phone or click BT on and off everyday. BT is almost perfect all the time now. And hearing in noise is better too. I hope that the next Android update will fix the Jabra/Android connection issues for others

I had issues with my EP 20’s in the beginning not connecting to my phone, an Android, Google Pixel 8. Now I rarely have issues. My morning ritual:

  1. Open the Enhance Pro app on my phone and click on the Status button at the bottom. The left and right aids will show solid green line (from phone to aid) and solid green hearing aid icon, for fully charged.
  2. Take the aids out of the charger box and set them next to the phone. On the app, the left and right aids icon and connecting lines will show red.
  3. Wait until the aids stop dinging and the app shows the hearing aids icons green and the connecting lines are white - now everything is connected and ready for use.
  4. If by chance one of the aids does not connect properly (still shows red in the app), I put it back in the charger case, wait for the light on the aid to flash or show solid green, and take it out of the case again and wait for it to connect as in step 3.

Anytime I lose Bluetooth connectivity with my phone for one or both aids, I re-connect (not re-pair) them by putting the aid(s) back in the charger and follow the above steps again. Even though others have suggested the turning Bluetooth off and on again on the phone will reconnect the aids, I have found that this doesn’t usually work for me.

On the rare occasion that I lose Bluetooth connectivity with my phone for one or both aids and streaming phone calls or audio will not work, and reconnecting to my phone (as outlined above) does not work, then I will go through the full re-pair process.

All Android phones are different and the Bluetooth behaves differently, so you mileage may vary.

Maybe this will help someone.

Mine show connected but (back to) only one aid working during streaming. The latest update and Jabra/Resound screwed the pooch, again. It was working well after the previous update but the newer one is back to being so pitiful again. I will be returning these and trialing the Reach and 9050. Is it to much to ask to just stream to both aids GN???

Remember, half of the equation is the Bluetooth on the phone

Well written and described! This makes a lot of sense to me.

The one thing I might add is when you do just try toggling Bluetooth and it does not work then I disconnect and reconnect the HAs under the Bluetooth settings and this almost always works. Often just toggling Bluetooth will not work.

Thank you for this.

This is a common theme, I keep saying to people, don’t update unless it’s absolutely necessary, if it ain’t broke don’t fix it, same goes for just about any electronic device nowadays.

Unfortunately the ASHA bluetooth protocol for Android audio streaming still has a long way to go and in my experience causes headaches with all non-sonova manufacturers. For android streaming Phonak / Unitron still performs better than all the others… Or you could just buy an iPhone and your Jabras should work seamlessly

I have a new iPhone and Jabra Enh.20’s. I have to frequently re-connect my Jabra’s w/ the phone. Still trying to figure a system that will be less trouble. With all, I still like both phone and HAs very much!!

Yeah, it should, but it doesn’t. When I’m streaming TV (3 hours/night or more), my phone is rarely more than 3’ away from my HAs. At IOS 17.6.1, connection is frequently lost. In fact, I think my iphone loses connection even more frequently than it did at IOS 16.

But as annoying as the iphone is, it’s an order of magnitude better at maintaining connection and responding to commands than my Samsung S20 5G.

I’m not sure where the problems lie. Maybe it’s in ASHA specs. Maybe it’s in the phone manufacturers’ BT LE and/or ASHA implementation. Maybe it’s in the app that ReSound has commissioned. Maybe it’s something else entirely.

Thanks for the warning about the latest version of the app. Since the app IS broken, I usually update as soon as I find out about a new release. I’ll hold off on this one.
