Is the DIY sub-forum broken?

I am getting the sense that, after all the recent cufuffle that resulted in the expulsion of a number of contributors, the DIY discussion in here has largely died.

Other than ongoing requests for software, which one stalwart member valiantly continues to satisfy, in-depth DIY related discussion has ceased.

Am I wrong? Did we cut off our nose to spite our face?

The forums have improved lately IMO. More calm, less empty yakking posts. All the help anybody needs is readily available. The decision to say adios to a handful of user-names has been proven correct.

How so? I haven’t noticed much difference other then the constant argumentative behaviour no longer an issue, it’s always been a bit different from the other categories, I’m happy with the way it is.

It rarely was, don’t worry when someone wants to know something they’ll ask, but judging by the amount of requests there’s even more people getting into DIY, my take is because there’s no more deliberate attempts at confusing with over the top technical details with this, people are finding just how easy it is to do just by using the KISS factor!

Definitely not, as I’m finding the forum a much better place with other members weighing in on DIY that had been absent for quite some time.

Is that why I don’t see any posts written by polyvinylchloride in the mail anymore? And are other people banned, too? I utterly missed this.

@Markismus

long read … but there it is .

Oh, 2 week suspension. People go on holidays that are longer. Why would that impact a sub-forum?

Oh sorry if you read somewhere in there, they have all been banned and been removed from the forums never to…return

Oh. That’s much worse. They’ll have to generate whole new profiles now, if they want to post.

Still I wonder whether in-depth discussion threads hinges on the presence of a few.

To me DIY for hearing aids is primarily programming, some custom molds and in the near future a replacement rechargeable battery.

Could it be that the search-function is working? Lots of times when I search for changes in topics on Google, I see old post from here appearing.

If you tune out the marketing noise and just focus on things that would need a new DIY approach, not much new is happening at the moment. Could that be a solid reason for less in-depth discussions?

Or are topics being ignored? What threads remain conspicuously missing, @HomerSimpson?

I don’t think it’s totally broken and for DIY people, this is a very important resource.

Of course there are some dedicated, well known and highly knowledgeable people here and I’m glad of that.

But there are others of us who also have some real personal understanding and experience, for example myself with Resound SmartFit. I’m sure we are happy to help fellow DIY people too if we can. I would welcome a bit more dialogue in this forum room, so we come across more as a community.

This section shouldn’t just be about giving people clues on how to download the software. The really valuable knowledge is how to solve problems and how to adjust things to deal with how the hearing aids actually sound to people struggling to sort them out.

Anyway let’s make it not broken!

Don’t expect those to be shared here anymore since they now contain files slagging this forum and some of its members. Plus revisionist history, pure fantasy, and outright lies as well. Good riddance.
