I’ve recently noticed that around 6 pm (I’m in the UK) that my hearing with the Sphere 190 seems to drop and that the metallic sound rom the aids seems to be worse. It’s almost as though they need recharging, but I thought that they had around 16 hours or so before needing to be recharged. I’m seeing the audiologist on Mondah (7 July) but just wondered if anyone had any thoughts about this?P
How much time are you spending in Spheric mode? Spheric mode consumes quite a bit of power and you won’t get 16 hours. I am new to Infinio Spheres myself and after 1 week of using them in the gym; after 3 hours (1 hour streaming music; 2 hours in Spheric mode) my battery level went from 100% to 70%.
Also, there is a battery save mode, which by default is on, and it limits Spheric mode to 3 hours per day in AutoSense. Then it defaults to Speech in Noise. This is reset during the next charge. This can be turned off by your audiologist in the programming software.
I’ve had a couple of occasions when I accidentally left my Spheres in Sphere mode, and they only last about 7 hours in that mode continuously. If you have the Phonak app installed on your phone, it reports the remaining % charge in both units plus the program that it currently is in.
Thanks Captain Trips. Sphere mode - grateful if you could define this or whether I need to have a programme put on my phone by audiologist. I do have the Phonak app installed.
Spheric mode is the AI assisted mode that uses advanced noise suppression to make speech in noise more understandable. By default, Spheric mode comes on automatically after the noise around you reaches a certain db level. I’ve got mine set so that I can turn it on manually when I want to use it, using the rocker buttons on the HAs. It’s in the app by default, I think.
It’s a catch 22 with Phonak Sphere aids. Yes you get excellent results when using Sphere mode in background noise. Problem is when you use that program, you battery life drops significantly. Sadly its "rob Peter to pay Paul’. You see a lot of post here (most likely) hearing aid dealers pumping the Sphere but they don’t mention the fact that the aid battery won’t last that long when “noise cancelation” program is used. Personally I’d rather have a HA that works dependable 24/7, than go day to day with various levels of battery drain. So bottom line you have to decide. Do you want a long lasting HA usage or take a chance and use aid programs that suck the life out of batteries faster than Dracula can suck your blood. Yea - odd comparison but it hits home.
