I posted this link recently. It’s a product that’s heading in that general direction. IYO ONE
Yes, that would be ideal, but I’ve had a severe hearing loss my entire life and am not expecting this to happen within my remaining lifetime.
My idea (which I realize will not be possible for a long time) would only apply for a limited time. The aids might have been trained to recognize that they are in my car and suppress background sounds from the engine and tires. As soon as I turn off my engine it returns to its regular program. I could do the same thing when I bicycle, although the background noises would probably be more diverse. When I turn on my cycling program they would only suppress the routine background noises that they had been trained on. Other sounds, such as people talking, horns, or loud engine sounds would be recognized as different from background sounds and would be allowed through. Thus, this would be the opposite of being in a cocoon because I would be more aware of non-routine sounds. They would also recognize when I have stopped cycling automatically and change back to their regular program.
I am very old school when it comes to my vehicles. I want to hear the engine and the tires on the road. I could tell everything that i needed to know about the health of my vehicle from that. I tuned my engines by listening to the way it sounded. I could tell if my tires were okay by the road sounds. I miss being able to do that so much.
I think you’re describing the ultimate hearing device, not just hearing aid, because a normal person can also make good use out of it as well.
I think we’re talking about AI at 2 different levels and 2 different applications here. You’re aspiring for an AI that is not just smart at compensating for the hearing loss that people like us have, but also has the smart at an interface level to be programmed to our wishes of what/how/when we want to hear the world, according to which situation.
I’m limiting my discussion about AI in hearing aids to within its ability to help make the hearing aids more successful at making up for the hearing losses that people have, not considering any further AI smart that can be developed in its interface in terms of interaction with the users and performing in accordance to the users’ wishes. I think it’s way too far out there that I most likely won’t see it in my lifetime for sure, so I dare not wish for something I’ll probably never see.
Also, I think this thread is more about understanding how AI will be put to work in hearing aids to “make up” for our hearing losses. If it’s about wishing for what AI can do for hearing aids, let me put on a bib first because I know I’m going to start drooling.
Me:
Is Phonak using AI to monitor my Phonak Audeo Paradise P90R hearing aids and make them work better?
AI:
Yes, Phonak Audeo Paradise P90 hearing aids utilize artificial intelligence (AI) to enhance your listening experience. Developed with AutoSense OS 4.0, these hearing aids provide an ideal personalized experience in various sound environments1. AutoSense OS 4.0 blends a combination of sound processing features to support different communication needs and lifestyles. It adapts automatically to your surroundings, adjusting settings for optimal performance2. While AutoSense may cover most situations, some users find value in creating custom programs to fine-tune their preferences. For instance, you can modify a Music program to your taste and save it as a manual program, ensuring consistency even in specific scenarios like live music performances2. Ultimately, the choice depends on your personal requirements and preferences. If you ever need adjustments, your audiologist can incorporate your saved modifications into the AutoSense sub-programs during your next visit2. Keep enjoying your Phonak Audeo Paradise P90s!
Interesting. I wish it worked. My last year and a half has been H*ll and CVA erased their work suggesting I find someone who could help me more
It will be wonderful when Phonak uses AI to determine setup needs to be improved or done-over.
If AI exists, why do I have to select programs manually with my Phonak Audeo Paradise P90R hearing aids?
AI in two seconds!
Artificial intelligence (AI) is indeed a fascinating field, but its implementation in hearing aids can vary. Let’s explore how the Phonak Audeo Paradise P90 R hearing aids handle program selection:
- AutoSense OS 4.0:
- The Phonak Audeo Paradise P90 R hearing aids are equipped with AutoSense OS 4.0, which is developed with artificial intelligence. This system orchestrates various features to create an ideal personalized experience in different sound environments1.
- AutoSense OS 4.0 adapts to your surroundings by analyzing acoustic cues such as speech, noise, and music. It then automatically adjusts the hearing aid settings to optimize your listening experience1.
- The benefit of AutoSense is that it eliminates the need for manual program selection. Instead of manually switching between programs, the hearing aids continuously monitor the environment and adapt accordingly.
- Customization and Personal Preferences:
- While AutoSense is designed to handle most situations, some users may have specific preferences or unique requirements.
- If you find that AutoSense doesn’t fully meet your needs, you can work with your audiologist to customize the settings. For example:
- Saving Modifications: You can save your own modifications to the hearing aid settings. Your audiologist can incorporate these preferences into the AutoSense sub-programs during your next visit.
- Fine-Tuning: Audiologists can adjust parameters like volume, noise reduction, and speech enhancement based on your feedback and individual preferences2.
- Manual Programs:
- Despite the AI capabilities, some users still prefer having manual control over their hearing aid programs. This allows them to switch to specific modes (e.g., music, speech in noise) when needed.
- Phonak Audeo Paradise P90 R hearing aids offer additional programs beyond AutoSense, such as comfort in echo, speech in loud noise, and speech in 360°3.
- If you have specific scenarios where you want more control, you can manually select the appropriate program using the hearing aid’s buttons or app.
In summary, while AI-driven AutoSense simplifies program selection for most users, the option for manual customization remains available for those who desire it. Feel free to discuss your preferences with your audiologist to ensure your hearing aids meet your specific needs!
I’d like to print this and bind it and send it to my dispensing audiologist as a training manual. I wish him well.
And I’m very thankful I have a hearing instrument specialist who is guiding me on a path to get my Phonak Audeo Paradise P90R’s setup properly.
Q?
What settings are necessary for Phonak Audeo Paradisse P90 hearing aids to ensure speech recognition in noise with profound hearing loss?
AI! 2 seconds
Certainly! The Phonak Audéo Paradise P90R hearing aids offer several features that can help enhance your hearing experience, especially in noisy environments. Let’s explore some ways to optimize your hearing aids for better conversation clarity:
- **Speech in Noise (AutoSense OS 4.0):**This feature adapts and reduces noise from behind in real time, optimizing the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) when you’re in noisy surroundings1. Ensure that this setting is enabled to enhance speech understanding while minimizing background noise.
- Dynamic Noise Cancellation: Phonak Paradise introduces “Dynamic Noise Cancellation,” which automatically adjusts noise reduction for noisy situations. You can control this feature from your myPhonak app. Experiment with different levels to find the right balance between noise reduction and speech clarity.
- Motion Sensors: The new Motion Sensor Hearing feature detects whether you’re stationary or moving and adjusts microphone modes and noise cancellation settings accordingly. Make sure this feature is activated to optimize your hearing experience in various environments.
- Environmental Balance: Use the volume control to adjust the balance between streamed audio (e.g., TV, phone calls) and surrounding environmental sounds. This allows you to focus on conversations while still being aware of your surroundings.
- WhistleBlock: WhistleBlock differentiates between feedback-like sounds and true feedback, ensuring clear audibility without annoying whistling noises.
- **UltraZoom (Directional Microphones):**UltraZoom improves speech intelligibility in background noise. It’s automatically available in the AutoSense OS or can be manually activated.
- QuickSync: If you have two hearing aids, QuickSync ensures that volume and program settings are balanced and synchronized between them. Adjust one aid, and the other will follow suit instantly.
Remember to consult your audiologist for personalized adjustments based on your specific hearing needs. They can fine-tune the settings to optimize speech understanding and minimize noise. Additionally, consider exploring the TV Connector setup to stream audio directly from your TV to your hearing aids1.
Lastly, I’m thrilled that you found a skilled practitioner who has improved your hearing aid experience! If you have any further questions or need additional assistance, feel free to ask. 1234
I’m more frustrated with my hearing aids than when I started this thread.
I’ve got monster feedback now. The APP doesn’t help. So I went to Phonak Pro and all the talk I saw there suggests that the hearing instrument specialist can adjust settings through the internet. No audi or hearing instrument specialist has agreed to do that.
audiophile days~too much gain.?.
Frankly I feel the system doesn’t work.
On the other hand AI seems to be brilliant. I believe that future of hearing aids can only improve. Welcome AI.
AI will probably create hearing aids that fact check everything you hear and censor it before it hits your eardrums. That way you will get a constant stream of government approved, politically correct, messages.
