How often do you have to replace your wax filters and domes?

WOW! You are equipped for anything. I just want them to work.

Me too.

It amazes me that our wonderful hearing aids require such care.

I sometimes change my wax guards twice a week

When I went to the dispensing Audi I often did without wax guards. If I needed his help I had to make an appointment, take time off work. Drive. Pay $5.00 minimum for parking.

Our wonderful ā€œmedical equipmentā€ hearing aids have minuscule wax guards designed to plug up with the wax they trap, and domes that require special settings in Target. Terrible engineering. Surely the industry could do better

Except for the Jodi-Vac, I own all the other stuff for other reasons. And I happen to be married to an MD who keeps an otoscope at home. So I can have a free ear canal exam whenever I want!

The only thing I can respond to your comments is, do you want to walk around with something the size of an ear trumpet sticking out of your ears? Miniaturization requires that the wax guards must also be miniaturized. Ear wax normally keeps your ear canals clean of debris. When wearing hearing aids you are placing foreign objects into your ears. Your body then responds by increasing the quantity of ear wax to keep your ear canals clear. Not being an ENT physician nor a medical professional of any type, I’m just taking an uneducated guess.

Good comment. Appreciate it.

I occasionally have trace amounts of wax. I’m lucky.

For a couple of years I attended exercise sessions conducted by a Zen Monk. I was one of the many seniors there. If I saw hearing aids I’d ask how they liked them. Wax guards…I never found anyone that said they changed them.

Did you specifically ask them about wax guards? Before I started wearing them, I had no idea they required regular maintenance. BTW, thanks for the compliment. Sometimes common sense isn’t that common.

I asked. I had realized how critically important they were. I wondered whether they could hear!

When I got my Phonak Audeo Paradise P90Rs then had the awful 4.0 wax guards. I’m old. I couldn’t change them. My hearing aids didn’t work. I couldn’t understand speech at all.

I’m so grateful they brought the 5.0 receivers out. It’s improved my hearing aids so much. Thank you Phonak!

@Michael_Phonak please let them know how much better they are!
