Thank you for your email. I’ve just come back from physio appointment and the hearing aids didn’t reduce background noise etc.
Can you let me know what a spheric mode program is and also how do I put my hearing aids into Spheric mannually to give it a good test? This afternoon’s appointment would have been a really good test. Can you also let me know about the threshold that you refer to?
I do have the MyPhonak app and maybe I’m not using this as well as I might. So it is really disappointing but would be very grateful for your advice.
I think the most important feature with hearing aids is the setup.
I’ve been where you are and wish I knew more.
When I changed hearing care suppliers I found out the dispenser had made at least two setup mistakes. They were simple. They were the reasons I could’t hear. Know you are hearing from people that are very knowledgable and helpful.
Been wearing hearing aids for over 20 years. My current hearing aids are over 3 years old.
Little changes have made a great difference. I should have moved from my supplier earlier.

Power Domes I hated.
I resisted what I was told here. molded inserts are much better for me. But I am stubborn and waited to get them.
I was outside yesterday and couldn’t understand/couldn’t hear. I have more to do.
The creation of custom programs has been covered pretty well on the site and even in general on the web. Briefly: go into myphonak, poke the name of the current program, and it should open a program picker dialog. At the bottom should be an “adjust” button. That will display which program autosense has chosen if you were in “automatic”. (If you go to an extremely noisy place, then hopefully it tells you Spheric. I don’t have mine yet, so I don’t know exactly what it says. You will want it to say Spheric to create a Spheric custom program to put it into manually.) If you just want to create a program to be able to manually enter that program when you demand, simply hit “save as new” at the bottom. The name you pick will show up in the list of programs in the program picker. Any changes here will be saved as well.
Your hcp can create one for you with their software without having to go to a noisy place. They can also adjust the threshold for entering Spheric when in autosense. That can’t be done with myphonak. If you want to do that, the diy section of the forum exists to help point the way. You’d want to study up before undertaking that process.
I received ReSound Vivia 7s yesterday and on the way home a strange thing happened that I hope someone can comment on. We had the satellite radio station on a news channel and I was having trouble understanding my husband speaking, so I asked him to lower the volume on the radio. After a few minutes I continued to hear what appeared to be a conversation and I asked my husband to shut off the radio. He told me he already did and could hear people speaking from my hearing aids! This continued until we arrived home and as we sat in the driveway, my husband began to record what we were hearing on his iPhone so we can show the audiologist on my next visit in 2 weeks. I should mention, it appeared to be more than one conversation, since the voices sounded different and we heard what sounded like phones ringing in between the conversations. Does anyone know how this happened? Could Bluetooth or AI be to blame? Did this have something to do with the satellite radio? Did we intercept cell phone conversations? I heard the voices, but could not understand what was being said. Once I entered the house I shut off and put the aids back on and did not hear the voices again. I have not been in my car since, so I don’t know if this will happen again. I appreciate any feedback anyone can give me. Thanks in advance.
If your husband could hear it … it was probably from your phone in your purse, not the HA’s
Your phone may have made a “Pocket Call” or someone else made a call to you that got answered???
Thanks for your reply. I have a folio cover on my phone which keeps it closed all the time. My phone was in my purse closed. My husband definitely heard the conversation from my hearing aids. I appreciate your interest in this regard.
I have been wearing the Jabra Enhanced Pro 30s, which are exactly the same as the ReSound Viva hearing aids, since early May. I like them very much. However, I got into a discussion with a member of this forum who insisted that the AI function, “DNN”, only worked when the hearing aids are setup in the fitting software too, “Intelligent Focus”. After a couple of calls to customer care at Jabra, they told me that he had incorrect information. He AME to his conclusion from a couple of white papers on ReSound’s website.
This member said that his conclusion came from these two white papers. I read them both and didn’t come to his conclusion. I called Jabra’s customer care line, and on two different occasions they informed me that, anytime you select the Hear in Noise function on the Jabra Pro or the ReSound iPhone app, the DNN AI chip is activated regardless which noise selection was chosen by the hearing aid specialist at Costco. I made an appointment with my hearing aid specialist last Sunday, and I had her switch too, “Intelligent Focus” in her hearing aid fitting software.
Since Sunday, I haven’t been in a noisy enough situation to see if there’s any improvement in the, “Hear in Noise”, function of the app. Until I try it out in the noisiest restaurant this weekend, which is Texas Roadhouse, then ai will make a post here informing anyone of my results.
Works for me in noise much better than my original Pro’s. But i would guess that if you dont have molds, domes will allow enough leakage that you wont get the full affects of dnn. To much of the background noise will leak in and probably still will have a hard time hearing those you’re conversing with
There seems to be confusion about when the DNN chip is active. But you’re right, what we need is people testing them in noisy restaurants and reporting back.
The Jabra app can have four programs installed by the HA provider. It’s possible to have two hear in noise programs installed if you delete one of the others (Music, perhaps). This gives you a way to compare different settings under exactly the same noise conditions.
I suggest the missing piece is that they’re not setup while we are in a noisy environment
Some time ago I searched for information on myPhonak. Phonak Pro (or whatever it was) recommended that hearing aid specialists and Audis should use my Phonak for remote setups.
