Hi My Son lost his hearing in his left ear in 2021 we are in central Scotland paid a lot for a hearing aid that he won’t use I have started looking at other options Cros or Bicros Hearing Aids or possibly IIC he’s only 20 so it has to be something that won’t cramp his style lol any help advice help and recommendations for hearing centres would be much appreciated. Also he does have an appointment with Costco but am concerned the don’t offer any of the above we have looked at
Perhaps try the Signia Silk Charge & Go if that meets his needs.
Costco Glasgow or Edinburgh I’m sure will be the same. They do In IIC but not Cross or Bicross.
I would suggest if he’s in UK, to have a hospital based ENT hearing tests.
By establishing his type/range of hearing loss by official audiogram, he’ll be in the best position to get the best aid.
If in America, I would suggest similar.
If you want to go privately to purchase an aid, you need some clarification that doesnt involve a sales pitch.
Good luck.
He’s already likely to have been through the NHS paediatric system: why would you recommend that he goes back to the adult service? He doesn’t need to wait for a similar diagnosis and poorer quality/older aids that’s you’d get on the high street.
Hey! I just came across this and would love to help. I represent a technology called ADEL thats an alternative option that you and your son may find very cool. I am based in Glasgow Scotland. The technology has helped many in the music industry and beyond. Drop me an email if you would like? No pressure but I would love to help. calum.ingram@asiustechnologies.com

Edit: my story isn’t important unless it helps you. I had a similar issue with my Brother. Here’s what I did….i moved away because of work. Then he became sick.
My Brother was diagnosed with schizophrenia when he was about 18. My memories of him are so positive, but I remember the child he was before he started his adult life.
I used to surprise him with new clothing, and somehow it always got “lost”
One day I had an experience which showed me what I had done wrong. We went to an enclosed shopping mall. His shoes were beyond worn. We went to a store I remembered there. He chose new ones He wore them to oblivion. I needed to recognize that he’s an adult. Not the child I remembered.
He doesn’t know the value of money. It always costs more than I expect; however, he enjoys the experience and keeps what we buy. He’s 70 now. He’s a kind, gentle man.
Your son isn’t the same. But maybe he’s reacting the same way
Just my thought. Hope it helps.
DaveL, and my Brother Eric.
Why doesn’t he want to use a hearing aid? Does his left ear is completely deaf?
what about one that’s in an RIC style? I’m loving it and it works awesome with glasses (depending how bad it is)
