Has anyone else experienced this after a covid jab?

My type normally gives me 8 to 9 years which is why I’ve been exploring Wales etc. but it’s classed as terminal.

Going aboard is a no no due to cost of travel insurance as I also have a number of other rare medical conditions as well.

I had an implant in my right middle ear less then a year before my hearing got worse due to Chemo and actually got really good hearing Altho still had some SN loss. I was born with mixed loss as a result of another medical condition.

You certainly have the right to request that the topic be closed, but I learned long ago that once I started a thread, I lost all control over what happened to it (other than requesting it be closed)

Yes! Reactions are becoming more well known and studied. For me (Bilateral Meniere’s) I have had increased tinnitus and other stranger, well different, hearing - more distortion. CHeck this out:

I am glad you replied Ruth, I was unsure how to broach the subject… Hopefully, you have somehow, come to terms with your situation, and the bucket list is now in motion  At least you have some time to plan, and do things that are important to you… That is excellent news you got an implant, hopefully it is working well, and makes a big difference to help elevate your communication difficulties… Take care, Kev x

My apologies to @LRav for the slight hijack, but occasionally the health, and welfare of very helpful long term member’s, might be deemed important enough, for my transgression… Sorry.

I wasn’t clear.

It isn’t a hearing device as such, it’s a T shape implant to replace my badly eaten middle ear bones in my right ear.

Fwiw, I received the Moderna spikemax (?) booster two weeks ago along with the regular flu vaccine. I’m 75, so have chosen to receive every booster. This time around the only different effect was a substantially longer-lasting more sore right arm (I had the flu shot in my left). Strangely, same was true for my wife. I have never had any adverse reaction whatsoever to the flu or other vaccines. AFAIK, I haven’t had the covid bug either to my knowledge. I’m pretty healthy, have a fairly strong immune system, and have been exposed to many people; if I’ve had covid, it was asymptomatic.

All that said, in the last week I have noticed a very significant sustained uptick in my tinnitus level. Ordinarily I just tune the tinnitus out, very rarely even think about it. I’m very analytical, so have been methodical in looking for any possible variable in environment or physically. Nothing. It’s been fairly annoying, but I didn’t even make an association until I saw this thread.

A coincidence? Certainly possible, maybe likely. But given how unusual this is for me, can’t rule out the spikemax. I know there are anecdotal reports associating both covid and the mRNA vaccines with tinnitus. But there is nothing dispositive as of yet.

So I’ll just have to wait/see and take it from there.

Interesting YouTube from MedCram on side effects to vaccines, in general.
FWIW. (no intention to hijack thread, but adding to general knowledge so informed decisions can be made)

At 31 min in, there’s data about reported/unreported side effects & deaths.

Yeah @Dr_Nixon, if we go slightly further back, the Doctors used “Leeches”…I would also like to say, it would be very much appreciated if you would please refrain from making accusations about @Um_bongo, Stephen is a very much appreciated A.uD on this site, and one of the most respected, if you have anything to say to him personally, please PM him! I believe his comments stated “untruths”? The word “Liar” was never used, it is a derogatory term, and also inflammatory… For the record, me and Stephen go back many years on this site, and occasionally we where at loggerheads, but our arguments where always respectful, please keep it that way  Covid vaccines will possibly have us arguing for years to come, we don’t know there long term effects, and the short term effects appear to be extremely variable… As individuals we weigh up the positives & negatives, and in my case, like millions of others, we take that leap of faith, and get that vaccine. For me, it is entirely up to the individual, but there are folks still dying of Covid symptoms, here in the UK, according to statistics 10,000 died from Covid, in the last 12 month, and 15,000 with flu, so it is still worth your consideration, if you are in a high risk group… I read an article last week, some scientists believe that Covid is likely to become a seasonal illness, but the jury on that one, is still out… Cheers Kev :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Yes well, I was the one he called a liar, though not explicitly with that word. I think it’s best to just drop this, he is to, uhm shale I say, brassy, to consider opposing views.

We just need to be the better person/people.

Kind regards

Nobody called anybody a liar.

What I suggested was that the application of the CDC paper in relation to all cases was unlikely to reflect the general efficacy and side-effects of COVID vaccines, especially for the age of the people who frequent this site.

Picking several ‘straw men’ comparisons to prove the point isn’t helpful. Science moves forward, the benefit of that passes on to the Medical community.

Someone felt offended about being called out on the original post, so I deleted the content. You’ve however continued to propagate the argument to push your own agenda.

Funny that you chose ‘Nixon’ as your moniker on here……

Can we just drop this already?

Point of information: Doctors still use leeches.

You just cited…

That claimed anecdotal evidence

And if that isn’t truly bad enough…

It was “evidence” of clotted blood in corpses.

Thank you for that information @AtlantaNative, I stand corrected! You learn something new every day… I had a look at Leech Therapy, and the use of Leeches in modern day medicine, that is interesting… Cheers Kev

My tinnitus tends to flare up whenever I feel under the weather. That said, if we’re sharing anecdotes, I’ve had 7 covid shots and it has never had any noticable impact on my tinnitus or my hearing. I’ve also been getting my annual flu shot for my entire life with no problems. However, if one experiences hearing symptoms after more than one shot that aren’t explained by other things, I don’t think it’s unreasonable to stop getting vaccinated, particularly in my area where vaccination rates are high an we now have pretty good treatment protocols for severe covid. This isn’t the same context it was in 2020.

John Campbell is a quack. Peter McCullough is a quack.

Where I am, registered medical professionals can have their licence pulled for promoting misinformation online, particularly while representing themselves as a medical provider.

The role of a registered medical professional is to provide care supported by our best evidence. Best scientific evidence is the overall body of knowledge which in turns leads to care protocols that are agreed upon by a board of experts in the field. It’s not one random study promoted with scare tactics by one random doctor. If a medical professional has concerns, their role is to take those concerns to the profession. If they have a strong argument, they will convince their colleagues and it will change the practice.

These online anti-vax doctors are “speaking out to the public” because they failed to convince their expert colleagues. This is a red flag in itself.

Oh, but also LRav, take your hearing aid in for a cleaning. Maybe your microphones are just blocked. Hearing aids malfunction is subtle ways all the time and that would certainly lead to increased tinnitus and reduced hearing.
