Here is a Youtube video that takes you step by step through setting up a new hearing aid fitting using the Philips Hearlink software. The software and hearing aids used are Philips but 90% of the content is transferable to other brands, at least to Target which I have used for my Phonak aids. The presenter is a Costco employee who, I think, does a good job of explaining things.
