One thing that might help is the K2 and N7 colors are well represented on the Cochlear website. The colors on the website are true to real life that I have witnessed.
I don’t know how this could be compared to your N6??
Indeed, you’re right, it’s more N7 photos with different colors, thanks!
The factor which make difficult to differentiate is glossiness of the “non-Kanso” type, so one may be somewhat confused I had Kanso 2 in my hand and it looks like more matte.
My N6 from 2013 is beige, but I think it’s a bit darker than the beige version of the N8 in photos. At that time, I did not have the possibility to choose the color.
This is my N8, it’s silver. Not the color you were wanting though. When I was taking photos my N8 looks more beige though. But outside in daylight it’s actually silvery /white.
Thanks, I recognize the N6 (I have the beige one; it’s the same color as the one in your N7). I see that the shadow makes the white N8 look a bit silver.
I will have a meeting in obtaining N8 on October 19.
Great to see a lower profile for the N8 housing and coil compared to the N6.
Thanks for raising the question. In the end, I chose the black version with the bronze cable and coil. It works quite well, and I really appreciate:
Streaming without the hassle of an intermediary device—a huge comfort easing rehabilitation.
The lower profile of the processing unit module (and coil), which provides better retention on my ear.
I have copied previous MAPs from the N6—despite a higher main gain limit (from 180–190 in the N6 to 203 in the N8) and streaming for 5–7 hours a day, I get 3–4 days of use on 675s, which is nearly twice as long as with the N6.
I think Bluetooth streaming is by the ASHA standard (I don’t know how to check it). It will probably have better battery life with a firmware upgrade to Bluetooth LE…
I also tried the larger rechargeable battery once—I think it would be enough for roughly two days.
I haven’t had any occasion to try listening through the mics, not streaming, but directionality and noise reduction are definitely better and indeed have null points as below:
@Bimodal_user the results from the remote check aren’t really worth getting. I was told if you do the remote check it’s not necessary to have an annual mapping by 1 Aud. I mentioned this to my regular Aud and she was shocked.
This is my last result from the remote check. As you can see it tells me nothing really.
@Deaf_piper, I received a quite similar reply. However, during a Remote Check, something audiogram-like is measured, as well as our SNR when we try to hear numbers in noise.
It would be great if we could get the audiogram-like graph and SNR results.
@Bimodal_user my master volume is set on 170. But I’ve got it on 180 and that’s the highest it can go until next mapping when I can get it increased. Every mapping I seem to go higher each time.
My understanding of the master limit is it is not linear. Pending on your mappings it can vary greatly. There is much more to it than gain for example.
This was changed on my right processor last year as a test to improve understanding scores.
This pulse width lowered the master volume and increased battery usage.
