Forgot to remove my hearing aids before shower

Tested my KS10’s (rated IP68) last week in the shower. I was wetting my hair when I discovered that I hadn’t taken them off. Wiped them off and put them in a PerfectLux Dryer. They don’t seem any worse for their experience. Put a Postit on the shower door but I know it will eventually become invisible. Someone mentioned putting a ball in the shower to jog your memory which sounds like a good idea if my wife puts it back after she showers. LOL

Not quite the same but in the 80s while skiing in Vail, I dove in a swimming pool with my contacts in. One survived, one didn’t. I wasted the next morning trying to get a replacement so I could ski. Lucked out a local was able to get and replicate my prescription so my skiing vacation wasn’t wasted.

Castaway ball …
This.
Is what I was looking for.

Water resistant is good, but there is a difference between water resistant and water proof. The Phonak Lumity Life’s are waterproof and was told I can shower with the one I have (Cochlear brand sound processor in other ear-not water proof). Haven’t tried leaving the Lumity in during a shower, just paranoid I guess.

Love it! Beats the “Oh S–t”.

Knowing that I am mentally incapable of not occasionally forgetting to remove my hearing aids, I made sure that my Phonak L90s at least claimed some water resistance.

So far, no apparent damage from the dozen-or-so times I have forgotten, although each time I yanked them within a few seconds.

I have Phonak Marvel (2023) and was initially told they were waterproof and enjoyed a shower while wearing them. Sometime later I found they were not designed for showering.

I still forget from time to time and simply chuck them out of the shower.

I had also swum in them (unintentionally). Even if I had swimable proof aids I would not do it as I would not relish searching for them before they got sucked out.

I also have a pair of basic Siemens aids. I have been trying to destroy them. Filling the battery compartment with water, a new battery, and switching one has still not caused them to fail.

They are a lot more resilient than we think.
