Feedback when charging

Phonak Audeo Paradise P90Rs

How can I stop feedback when I’m charging both hearing aids at night?

They stay on when you put them in the charger? That’s not good, but you could turn them off before you charge, holding the button down for a few seconds, but I always thought they turned off automatically when you placed them in the charger and on when you removed them, obviously a setting in target to do this.

I believe the aids shut off when put into the charger and turn on when removed. The charger may be shutting down when charging is complete and triggering the aids to start up. I believe there is a setting in Target to change the behavior of the aids to remain off when removed from charger until manually started. I would try that but your audi would have to change that setting.

I got. New hearing aids and charger at end of warranty. Thanks Phonak

I can’t hear the noise at all. I was told it was awful.

The setting to turn on the aids removing them from the charger is in myPhonak app

So I turned it off. Put them in the charger. Took them out. They were off.

I’ve restored the turn on feature in myPhonak.

The charger is a brand new one. Same as I used for 3 years.

If I could hear, I could tell if the noise is controlled. I’ll try again

I have noticed my receiver domes are touching while being charged. Power receiver. Closed domes.

One can read the charge status in the app when the aids are charging, so they’re at least partly on. But in my experience, the only time the aids are fully-on in the charger is if 1. they’re set to the default mode which is auto-on when removed from charger and 2. either no power to the charger or aids having poor connection to the charger (awkwardly inserted, dirty contacts etc.) With the standard charger where the aids are some distance apart, there might not be too much feedback when power is removed. But in the travel charger where the aids are very close together they start talking to each other.

OK. I’ve walked in those shoes! I don’t know why, but after I bought my two pairs of Lumity Life aids, they would occasionally SHRIEK with feedback while in the charging base with its lid shut. No idea why! Hubs would wake me up, point to the base, and his mouth would open be a MILE WIDE with concern! This is like letting a Ferrari run at FULL BORE - can’t be sustained.

I then switched to manually turning the aids OFF before putting them in the base, and that seemed to take care of things …

But! Do know that even charging bases need firmware updates (as do your hearing aids). So take the whole kit 'n caboodle in to your audi and make sure they are both up to date.

Then, if you still have this issue, try to RESEAT the aids in the charging base really carefully. I can’t figure out when, how or why, but I no longer turn my aids OFF before dropping them into the charger. The aids no longer shriek with feedback inside that case.

So it could be multi-factorial here. Start tonight with seating them nice and GOOD. Then pursue the firmware update route. GOOD LUCK.

So from your other posts on this, it sounds like the setting to turn on automatically when charging ends is on, and somehow the power is being removed. You can keep the power on while they are in the charger, turn the “auto on” setting off, or turn them off manually when the power is removed while they are in the charger. Alternatively ($) you could buy the battery pack that goes on the bottom of the charger, but I’m not sure that will fit the charger that is making them feedback.

They are always turning on when the power is removed and sitting there “on” even though they are in the charger, and I suppose that battery life use may not bother you, but I want every minute I can get. Thus I leave “auto on” off, even though I have the battery. I don’t want one coming loose and turning on through the night and running down. I think they are easy enough to turn on with the switches.

Your call, though.

Trial tonight.

Auto on is on

2 Paradise P90s in the charger. Power receivers. Close domes

Nothing else in the receiver. Oh. Humidifier chamber that Phonak provided with the new humidifier and hearing aids

Oh. My 3 year old P90Rs had marks worn on the sides. Phonak labels on each. Replacement P90Rs have no name on them. No “Phonak”. Wonder why?

Fixed. Quiet.
Thanks all for your help

Auto-on is on

P90R’s are charging.
Power Receivers. Closed Domes

Humidifier.

Difference? Small cleaning tools are gone. Receiver / Domes have more room. They were close/touching when feedback occurred.

Thanks again

Btw. Report was the noise was loud. It hurt

My tinnitus is loud
With my hearing loss I didn’t hear a thing.

I can hear my Springer Spaniel bark. 90 dB
Hand dryer at work. 100 dB

I can hear aircraft overhead when they’re on final for Toronto airport. 78 dB when I’m on the porch

Thanks

Mine do the opposite!
They feedback if the charger loses AC power.
They feedback for over 12 hours one night.

A charger with a backup battery solves that.

Yeah this such a stupid thing to happen, I mean what were they thinking, you do NOT want your HAs “on” when they are charging, no ifs or buts about it, why is it that Phonak always has these “battery” issues with their products, your using a lot of battery if the feedback management is working in the background as well, why do you need the app to check the the battery level while they’re charging! Ha, man you only need to check the led lights to know state of charge, give me disposal batteries any time…

I’ve had a couple of situations like this where my Paradise 90-RT slipped out a bit, losing connection with the charger contacts.

And it has auto-on, so it lost some of the charge during the night…

I turn this off. So, I have to turn them on by using the buttons. Big deal. IDon’t have problems with them coming on in the night because they lost contact. I double check the lights are blinking when I put them in and close the lid. But on a couple occasions (3+ years) they were fully charged but off in the case. I think it quit part way once.

Luckily, in the 4 years of having them, those problems were rare. I agree that one should double-check the LED light, but the described situation wasn’t even that. I think perhaps the elastic charger contact de-sprung the HA when I pushed it too hard before sleep…

New Spheres has magnetic contact, so there will be not the case.

I caused the issue.

I had a habit of leaving 3 cleaning tools across the bottom of the charger case.
Every night I place each hearing aid into the charger.

I have power receivers. The new ones. Phonak 5.0.

I have a sports lock on each receiver.

Closed domes. They were very close.

With my hearing loss I couldn’t hear the noise at all

With all that happening I couldn’t hear my hearing aid noise at all. I bet my dog could
I wanted to confess in case it helps someone else.

When I was with my dispensing Audi at CVA in Mississauga he tried for a year and a half to set them up.

When I found HWM in Burlington things started to improve. It’s been a year and a half. I will strongly recommend HWM if anyone pm’s me

It’s been a long time.

I thank my hearing instrument specialist.

I’d still like to hear better. Recently I couldn’t understand a word in a lunchroom with a table of 4 all about 5 feet from me. 15 people were talking. The babble was terrible. Surely there’s a reason. My paradise p90r’s are supposed to be good. I tried speech in loud noise. And other programs

My last appointment he did REM. IT helped a lot.

I wish to thank Phonak. They replaced both hearing aids, and my charger. They supplied new 5.0 Power Receivers. I’m much happier now.

My Paradise stay on in the charger.

How do I know?

Well, I get a constant charging/battery status MyPhonak…

But I NEVER experience feedback from them while in there…
