Does the active vent feature require ear molds?

I was told that in order to have the active vent feature with the Spheres, you have to have an ear mold. I don’t like the ear mold. I hear other people talking about they’re using their spheres with a double dome or closed dome. They don’t mention whether or not they have the active vent feature. Does anybody know if the mold is required for the active and feature?

When I got my activevents almost three years ago, I started with rubbery silicone “universal slimtips” to wear until I decided whether I liked the activevents or not. After I knew I wanted them, I had the option to get the titanium slimtips or stay with the universal tips. I love my titanium tips.

Why do you want ActiveVents? In other words, what makes you want them?

Every technical solution has its pros and cons. If you cannot stand the drawbacks of even temporary closed fitting, maybe you should not get ActiveVents.

In closed fitting/position directivity and noise reduction shine, especially in noisy environments. Streaming is also generally better.

You cannot get ActiveVent (with MAV receiver) with domes, because it defeats the purpose of the mechanical receiver - domes simply aren’t leaktight enough.

In the topic below there are Phonak PDF about eligibility criteria for ActiveVent:
