Costco's warranty question for Hearing aida

I have a rather wierd question, since my 2 week old brio 3 left hearing aid has a issue at the moment. After Tuesday What happens if Phonak themselves decide it isn’t fixable and decide to totally replace my hearing aid despite the issue occuring days after being brought and being crazy careful? Does that negate any loss or damage beyond repair coverage for the remainder of the 3 tears Im hoping it’s a fixable issue vs a the replacement issue since they are two weeks old as of yesterday I’d hate the worry of well bugger I can’t get it replaced if it’s happens to be lost/stolen or really damaged due to something that is genuinely my fault… I know my paperwork says one FREE replacement per ear during the next 3 years but I’m just asking because I’ve never had to deal with this area in terms of hearing aids. Do most issues just get repaired? Or do phonak go with just replacing?

Thank you for reading

My interpretation is that if YOU yourself lose or damage the hearing aid, then you’re entitled to a free replacement.

But if the replacement is due to a non-repairable issue, or simply because they’d rather replace rather than repair to fix the issue, it doesn’t count as your lost or damaged replacement.

You should consult the Costco HIS about this, but that’d be my understanding.

Thanks for replying volusiano. I intend to ask about this at my appointment, that was my initial thought as well since it occurred within 48 hours of owning them the issue was a reoccurring one till it became perminant at the 1.5 week mark. I just wasn’t sure how it’d affect my warranty and free replacement if Phonak went nope replace due to a mechanical issue that I’d not the users fault.

My dog ate one the first year. One died the second year. Another died the third year and they replaced or repaired each one within 3 days. When the one died in the 3rd year, they suggested sending in both aids and having them refurbished, since I was close the the end of the 3rd year. Outside of the 3 years, it costs $135 to have the unit repaired. I know this does not exactly answer your question, but I have found Costco’s service to be extraordinary.

If it is a warranty issue they will repair/replace and your trial continues. If it is a loss/damage issue they replace it/them and your trial is over, no returns.

@dbriefly oargh at the dog ate one that has only happened once in my lifetime! Thankfully I have no dogs or cats and my daughter’s guinea pigs don’t leave her room so that’s a not a worry, wow that was a quick turnaround on being fixed. I hope it’s that quick for mind as I have my daughter’s choir performance and wanted to see how well they function for that. usually for me hearng aids last about 5-6 years before I have problems but my last pair made it to the 7.5-8 year mark.

@Don Thank you Dom I’m guessing for me it’s a warrenty thing as haven’t dropped these, no wet rain walks or wet hair, cleaned as instructed and kept in their separate cases when I’m in bed.

its also possible that HA itself faulty from inception but you noticed later. or audi niglected and you pushed wxplanation repeatedly then audi sent to conpany. they awarded replace. it happended to me first pair itself damaged from day i bought rocker swich it make crakling sound but tiny and strange. since audi can hear both sound he cant detect problem but i have deafness fine rocker swich i cant hear and damaged big i can hear so i recorded both volume with mic and sent to company(second time after 15 day) they replaced with whole new aid. haha. no warranty issue if not our fault. if our fault claim loss and damage only if they refuse in warranty
