When using my iPhone there are no issues. With a land line phone, I just put it to my ear and go, no problems for me.
Is there a quick “cheat sheet” of the various alarm tones that come through the K6 hearing aids? I get confused with some of these… especially when attempting to Bluetooth and getting occasionally dropped.
Kip, do you have the iphone app? If so, it has a section that will play all the tones for you or explain the last tone used.
Yes, you are suppose to be able to use them with either the iPhone or iPad
I got my K6s fitted yesterday and can say that I am hearing better than I have in years!!!
I was disappointed that my iPhone 4s wouldn’t run the App and could not dependably connect via bluetooth to my HAs. My wife’s iPhone 5s on the other hand is working perfectly with the K6s but I’m afraid that I’ve asked her to lend it to me one too many times already. So I went to the AT&T phone store this afternoon planning on purchasing a iPhone 5s or 6. (I really wanted to get a 6 as it won’t cost me that much more and the 6 would make me feel that I am getting something extra in upgrading my 4s.)
After spending a few hours connecting and attempting to connect my K6s to their demo phones I came away empty handed. When I did manage to connect to their iPhones, the bluetooth connection would come and go on the left and right HAs. They even let me take the demo 5s and 6 iPhones out of the store to get away from all the other electronics but even then I had connectivity problems. I know from connecting to my wife’s phone that my K6s are capable of maintaining a streaming connection to an iPhone. However I was afraid to purchase a new phone because I was having so much trouble with the demos.
In reading through this forum, I know that others are having trouble with bluetooth connectivity as well. If you are reading this post and are using an iPhone to connect to your K6s, would you please respond by telling us what model of iPhone you are using and if you are able to stream music without loosing the connectivity?
My K6s came fitted with double domes because I have a significant hearing loss. The double domes are making my ear canal sore but I guess that I’m getting used to them because they are becoming less annoying on this my second day of use. Have any of you other K6 users experienced difficulty getting comfortable with the double domes?
I am using KS6s with an iPhone 6. I was having problems with intermittent dropping of one or both hearing aids. I changed the wifi from 2.4G to 5G and the problem went away.
Can you tell me how you changed from 2.4G to 5G or point me to a post that describes the procedure?
Thx - Craig
I won’t use the double domes. They seal the canal and are very uncomfortable to me. When my hearing got a little too bad for the tulip domes (which are very comfortable) I got a custom mold (I think it was $39 per ear). The custom mold is a soft material, fits deep in the ear canal, and is not visible. All you can see is the wire going into the ear.
The custom mold is very, very comfortable and doesn’t move all day. Mine has the select-a-vent where you have vent inserts of different sizes. I selected the vent that is just big enough to prevent occlusion and still doesn’t have feedback.
If you don’t have profound loss and your low frequency loss is not too great you may be able to use the tulip dome. Otherwise I can recommend the soft molds. You may have to ask for them to be fit deeply.
You have to have a router that supports 5G. Not all do. If it does, the option should show when connecting the phone to wifi. For my router, the networks show on the phone as [network name] and [network name]-5G. To see the networks available for the phone, go to Settings -> WiFi. The available networks will be listed. It may take a minute or two for all the available networks to show. Keep in mind, all routers don’t support 5G.
Thanks Don! I’ll keep that in mind if I can’t adjust to the double domes.
I’m using tulips with my KS6s, but with my old Oticons I had to use double domes to keep the feedback down. My audi turned me on to this trick and it worked wonders for me.
On the larger dome, we took a pair of cuticle scissors and cut a slit on either side of the dome, essentially making the larger dome somewhat like a tulip dome. I didn’t believe it would make a difference, but it really did help. The size I was wearing felt just a pinch too big, but the next size down was just a pinch too small and I’d get too much feedback. Once I tried this I did it every time I put on new domes. It was great, and actually seemed to help with the feedback. This definitely seemed to relieve a bit of the plugged up feeling you get with these domes.
Hope this helps,
Gary
Thanks Gary,
I might have to try likewise as my left ear is very bad and the K6 is turned up quite high. I am occasionally getting feedback on that ear. At least I am starting to get comfortable with the double domes.

I upgraded my iPhone 4s to an iPhone 5s this afternoon and so far so good!!! I’m able to use all the advertised iPhone and App functionality. I also haven’t experienced a lot of bluetooth cutout while streaming music!
I’m very grateful to this Forum for giving me the courage to move ahead on my iPhone upgrade!

Thank you LouisInTexas and KenP - I was just fitted and ordered my K6’s for $1799 - due to arrive 6/9. The first thing I noticed is the part that fits behind my ear is bigger and the RIC is different than my Linx2 5 (and the Linx 9 which I had before)- so now I am skeptical that the K6=ReSound Linx 9.
Could you point me to where I can see a side by side comparison or direct me to any reports of the specs on the K6?
I found this for the Linx 9 at http://thehearingblog.com/wp-content/uploads/LiNX-Overview-September-2014.pdf
I am trying to find specifically do the Kirkland 6.0 have?: (Many of these are only available on the Linx9)
Personalized Noise Reduction Yes or No
Binaural Directionality Yes or No
- Adjustable directional mix Yes or No
Synchronized SoftSwitching Yes or No
AutoScope Adaptive Directionality Yes or No
Binaural Environmental Optimizer II Yes or No
WARP compression - number of bands? 17 or 9
Number of Gain Handles? 9, 7 or 6?
Thank you again in advance!
Naomi
If you look at the picture of the guy that needs a shave, you will see various sizes. What is known missing is just the tinnitus control. It is a Lynx made for Costco by Resound as document on a number of sites and earlier in this thread is a similar sheet post by Rasmus_Braun.
The industry in the last year or so has upgraded the signal processors and that is the important thing to consider. For example the Phonak Q series is older tech that was recently replaced by the V series. Costco is still selling the older tech. If you look in the Phonak section there is a thread about how to get the V’s at the Costco price plus $300. ($2900)
One audi has reported that Resound will match Costco with the Lynx for them. Of course that, affect their profits dramatically. If you feel better with the audi you trialed with, you might ask.
Ken,
OK… Yes I do have the iPhone, and the app. I will run that and get my answers.
WOW!! LOVE the Kirkland Signature 6.0. Because of this forum, and mostly your posts… I am now wearing the greatest devices in 10 years in HAs. Thanks
One way you can see the differences between Costco and ReSound is to download the two Iphone Apps and run them in Demo mode. The Costco app (Choice) only lets you adjust Volume, Treble and Bass. The Resound App (Smart) also lets you adjust Comfort In Noise, Speech Focus and Comfort in Wind. Go to resound.com to see a demo of the resound smart app.
I don’t know if this means that the KS6 can’t do these adjustments, or its just that their Iphone App can’t do them. But either way, the result is that you can’t do them on your own.
The adjustments you refer to are only available for the Linx2. The KS6 is the Linx.
I see that SENIOR MEMBER is placed with my quote. Note that refers to quantity and not quality. A whole lot of folks here are more knowledgeable. I am just a HA user stumbling about like many others.
