I have only been through one replacement and that with the batteries provided by Costco. I got 3 days and was doing very limited streaming. I got a box of Duracell which seem to last better for me and will be used next.
I got the death melody twice before the aid went dead. Probably an hour apart and the battery went completely shortly after the second melody.
My batteries last 4 days exactly. I bought batteries on Ebay and found some great prices on Rayovac. Like you my Costco batteries did not seem to last as long.
Well, I do like the Duracell. Two reasons. The tab is longer than most and makes it an easier install. It comes in 4 to 8 plastic cases that fit in a pocket for easy carry. The best prices is on Amazon where they run $7.50 and change per 20. Not much difference between counts. The price is pretty consistent. I figure the 40 pack I bought should last close to a half year. That makes it roughtly$30-35 for the year. I can live with that.
Oh, I also like that they stick in the carrier. Don’t fall out if you swing the carrier wide. The negative I guess is that you have to poke them out but I don’t mind that. I’ve had the ones that would fall out and that’s a bigger annoyance.
Let us know on the ear mold’s I have a appoint on the first of next mounth and am trying to decide if I want to get mold’s.
My last aid’s were CIC and gave me lots of problems
Also if anyone has any information on what android phones they will work with that would be greatly appreciated I’ve seen Samsung’s S5 mentioned? I was able to download the app to all my android device’s .
Thanks Gary

Well this is interesting. I got the melody about every one hour or so. The triple click home button program even told me how long it was since the first warning. Today, my right HA battery died with no warning at all. Also, the triple click program is still accumulating time since that first warning and did not reset when I put in the new battery. Bugs, bugs and more bugs. Hope these get fixed on an app update. Hope a programmer is reading this blog. Still love these way better than the KS5’s.
OK, I’ve had my K6 HAs for 4 days now and I’m liking them much more than all devices I’ve ever owned (Starkey, Oticon Dual). The two programs seem perfect for quiet conversation (#1) and noisy in the car stereo listening (#2).
Question: Has anyone here had the minor issue with the physical button select failing to sync with the other ear? I will press/select on one side… and need to also select as it fails to talk to the other side.
Are you outdoors a lot? The sync issue tends to happen in open spaces because there are no surfaces for the signal to reflect off of, so it can’t reach the other hearing aid. The other possibility is a low battery.
Thanks, Hmmmm… I think it’s been happening in my car also. But I will test your science. The batteries are fresh. In fact the first time I noticed this was while still in Costco 5 minutes post-purchase.
It’s a minor non-problem.
I had old Siemens Centras that were, I think, their first dual connect and I never encountered that kind of problem. They switched properly everywhere. I have it turned on with my KS6’s and I haven’t seen it in the short time I’ve had them.
I just got my first HA’s a week ago, KS6’s and I am starting to like them. I have been an android user for years but wanted the phone control without even more jewelry to wear so yesterday I bought an iphone. I do like the controls and the streaming capability but a couple things. Listening to music and phone calls last night ate the batteries in 2-3 hours. I’m guessing this is to be expected. The biggest thing though is that when I walk away from the iphone, it loses connectivity and to reconnect, I have to open and close the battery compartment. Is this normal?
I have an iPhone5 and it stays connected just fine. I have had problems with Apple’s HA support in the OS. What I did to get another thing working was to uninstall the app and disable the HA services in the setup. Then, I redid the Apple setup. Then, downloaded and started the app. You might give that a go.
2-3 hours isn’t normal. You should be able to get a few days. If you’re streaming and you walk out of range of your phone, the hearing aids go into a search mode to re-establish the connection. This causes a large increase in current drain. Within a short period of time, a wireless exit occurs because the batteries are too weak to continue. That’s why the aids won’t automatically reconnect when you walk back in range. You have to let the batteries recover and then reboot the hearing aids.
Re: The connection with iPhone and iPod 5th Gen.
I am also new to the Signature 6.0, since last Saturday. OK, I like the ability to stream the content of my iPod touch 5th gen. But is it normal to occasionally drop in & out with the iPod/iPhone sitting in the back pocket of your pants? I have this occur every few minutes where I don’t lose everything… just the steam to one side or the other. If I quickly place the iPod closer to the HAs it doesn’t immediate come back, it takes it’s own sweet time.
Edit: Both HA batteries are fresh, and iPod has no trouble connecting with other bluetooth receivers.
2.4Ghz is pretty good at obstructions but, if your pocket and the line to your aids transects your trunk, it goes through a lot of liquid and minerals which will disperse the signal – which starts off fairly modest because of the small battery. A wireless router in the same frequencies makes it throughout the house because it starts with a much stronger signal.
An interesting experiment would be to have a family member walk away with one of the devices and see which loses the signal first.
It looks like you enjoy streaming a lot. A possible solution would be pocket tee shirts. You could slip the device in that.

Thank You. I will try a front pocket today. I mainly like listening to NPR Podcasts and talk programs while working around the house. Music through these seems pointless as the sound quality in just not there. Make some sense since the speakers are so small.
Another question: When on my Windows laptop I can get Windows to “find” the “GN device”… but ISDN (It Still Does Nothing). I looked in the speaker settings and I’m not seeing “GN” as a “playback device”?
Is anyone having bugginess with dropped unreachable bluetooth? It must be this da*n iPod, as since the “update” last January there has been innumerable connection issues.
Today, I cannot see the button that say “Stream content to devices” that I was seeing earlier this week in the iPod/Settings/General/Accessibility/Hearing Aids? Then if I go to the Signature App is will only recognize the Right HA, but it will play the ding noise in both when I switch programs from the app.
See image:
You won’t see the “Stream to right hearing aid” and “Stream to left hearing aid” options if only one device is connected. Try rebooting the iPod and hearing aids to make them connect. Program changes occur on both hearing aids because program synchronization is turned on, which is independent of the app.
Yep, just did this again, and I get the same results. (see image) Is it preferable to use the Apple Settings path first to connect, before trying the Signature App?
All the pairing and connection operations have to be done through the iOS Settings menu. The Choice app simply reads the information from the operating system.
Thank You, I will try some more. I’ve built a dis-like for iOS and Apple since they hoses my wifi abilities in the 8.x.x “update” this January. One minute… perfect…post update… dead for many many months until after I was forced to purchase a now router. Now wifi works… just very very slow. Windows/Andoid both scream.
