Costco Kirkland Signature 10.0 (Product Information)

There is an update to Target (7.1.3) that updates the KS10’s. It is said to be a “stability” update, and given that it is only a minor point update, I wouldn’t expect too much, but I’ll let you know if it is something that I can notice.

I have the update applied to my KS10s and can’t tell any diff. But without specifics from Sonova I’m not sure what to look for. The KS10s are working fine for me.

A Resound rep told me that the Resound ONE would support LE Audio in a firmware update. But they also shared that hands-free calling would not be supported since it requires another microphone on the hearing aid. But I also wouldn’t necessarily put too much weight on what the rep might say until the update actually comes out, because there’s always potential for a mistake.

I have an Insignia TV also, about 2 years old. How do I pair it with my hearing aids Kirkland Signature 9.0? I never knew you could pair a TV with my hearing aids!

Amazing that Phonak can do it without any “extra” microphones! Although if it’s true that the ReSound One will not support Apple’s “bidirectional hearing aids,” perhaps that explains why the Jabra version of the One has appeared at Costco (same as I rationalized why KS10’s have appeared so soon at Costco as perhaps there is a newer, “more better” premium Phonak model coming along. Should know soon.

Now Apple has a warning about placing their devices close to a pacemaker etc.

I have the new ks10. Does the telecoil function need to be program for it to be active? What are some of the popular programs that everyone found useful?

There’s at least one report here that activating the T-coil program can decrease the time you’ll get from each battery charge. T-coil technology is not much used in the U.S. If you attend movies in theaters that use it and have difficulty hearing the movie, you might want it. I think some museums use it along with their audio guide interpretive software. But, wherever it’s available there should be some notice that it is, so unless you find such declarations in places you visit with some regularity, I wouldn’t bother.

thank for the response. My only concern is to be able to hear the regular telephone. What other programs that you think should have on the hearing aids?

I don’t recall seeing this link posted recently. It provides information on the use of the KS10 aids.

Special programs are for dealing with probems that the hearing aids don’t deal well with automatically. If you’re not having any problems, there’s no need for special programs. Even if you are having problems in a certain situation, the solution may be tuning the automatic program rather than adding a new program. Communicate with your fitter.

Do you have a iPhone? I have Oticon hearing aids but I can use the telecoil with my iPhone. It works great.

I have android phone but without the telecoil program i will not able to use the telecoil function on the phone. However i can stream it.

I can also stream as well but is handy to have the telecoil program as well.

This talk about telecoil is interesting.
I have telecoil available on my KS10s as a custom program. I am not aware of being able to have it as part of the auto sensing program.
At the moment I find that when I switch to that program there is a LOT of floor noise…ie static
Obviously there is EMF in my house but so far I have not found an environment where this static is not present. No I do not live near high tension power lines
I tried the telecoil out in a theatre the other day and it certainly works but I do wonder about this ‘noise’ and whether it is a defect or an inevitable consequence of the technology. …

The T-Coil needs a T-Coil signal to function properly.
Like with a phone that has a magnet near the receiver to activate the T-Coil in the aids.
Or a loop in a public place or at home.
I don’t think it will function properly with no or a bad signal.

That is not uncommon with the t-coil activated. I am unable to use the t-coil at work as the ‘hum’ from the overhead trolley wires outside our shop overwhelms the phone input!

How do the KS10.0 aids (“white-label” Phonaks) compare to the Phonak-BRANDED aids that Costco sells?

The Phonak branded ones are BTEs instead of RIC. (I think a custom is also available) I also believe theyr’e a generation older.

No idea if this was mentioned but:

For those living in the Ontario, Canada area, Costco’s can now order the KS10’s for you. They’re $1,800 CAD (Canadian Dollars) no tax, and only $800 CAD if you purchase them with the assistive devices plan for hearing aids.
