I saw my hearing aid fitter today. He got Phonak technical support on the phone. The person he spoke with advised him to make some adjustments and switch the main connection to the left hearing aid. That seems to have resolved the issue.
The static is pretty much gone now… Maybe it took re-booting both the phone and the hearing aid after setting them to fixed. Thanks for the response.
Have the KS-10’s started appearing in UK Costcos yet?
I was at the Glasgow warehouse today. Yes they have them, very impressed with the setup. I was not able to be tested today, ear wax, so have made an appointment for micro suction. Hope to return for hearing test and fitting next week.
Thanks for that info - good news! I want to replace my KS-9 for the 10’s and get my wife fitted with my old KS-9’s. That might sound selfish but she is borderline to needing HA’s and reluctant to start using them. This would be a toe in the water.
Two questions: Has anyone been to audiology at both Costco Hayes and Watford and have any review or recommendation? For us, both are fairly major journeys of about the same duration.
Hi Philbury,
I live in Cambridgeshire so went to the Watford costco to get KS9s. I can recommend them. They performed REM and did a good job.
Another question for repeat customers at Costco. I bought my KS-9’s in 2019. Will they perform a full test when I buy the KS-10’s?
I am certain they will.
New test if none on file within 6 months here.
That makes sense. Your hearing might have got better
May be More likely a dispensing requirement. Docs are the same way with meds. Eyeglasses 2 years online, 1 year @ Costco I think, though
How much are KS10 in Uk?
£1150. If you need custom receivers for preference or more severe loss they are around £150.
The UK price seems higher than the US. Canada and Australia, which at the current exchange rates, makes them around £1000.
Unless they are exempt from tax US customers would be paying sales tax on top of the quoted price. Because it ranges from state to state US quoted retail prices don’t generally include it. (0% Delaware to 7.25% California )
No sales tax in California since it’s considered a medical device.
@philbury Not sure about others but no sales tax on HA from Costco except accessories
Well, I have had my new KS 10.0 Binaural US hearing aids for about an hour and I must say I have a VERY LOW opinion of the audiologist I visited a few months ago that offered no hearing aid while recommending I get evaluated for a cochlear implant.
I can hear everything! The custom molds are small and comfortable.
I will keep my old Sound World Companion aids as a backup but there is no comparison between their performance and that of my new KS 10’s…
Now, a few hours later, they are paired with my Samsung phone and Alead wireless mic…I am all set.
It is the next day now. I was looking forward to using the Easy Line Remote app but decided to leave the aids on Automatic. I really don’t need to change anything now. I lowered the volume one step (lowering volume on one aid also lowers it on the other aid) with the buttons but so far, that is all I need to do. They are really great hearing aids.
There is essentially no wind noise while riding my recumbent trike. Riding in a bike lane adjacent to fairly busy auto traffic is no longer deafening. I assume the Automatic mode works to make the auto noise tolerable.
It is midnight and the aids still have 37% charge. I took them out of the charger this morning at 7:30 am. The COSTCO technician said the battery lasts 24 hours. I was a little dubious.
I just paired them with the Bluetooth dongle on my Dell desktop computer. For the first time ever I can clearly hear and understand every word of the audio in Dr. Cliff’s review of the Phonak Audeo Paradise hearing aids.
And finally, I checked out my Samsung cell phone performance by calling my 94 year old brother. I have not been able to talk to him for several years because I simply could not understand most of what he said. With my new hearing aids I could understand 90% of what he said. If he had spoken a little more clearly I could have understood everything he said.
I vaguely remember discussion of why ReSound sold the charger for the rechargeable Quattro’s separately from the HA’s themselves. Part of the suggested rationale in the discussion was that the HA’s were sales tax exempt as a medical device whereas somehow the charger (although required for the HA’s) was not and therefore was subject to sales tax, perhaps because ReSound chose to list the charging case as separately manufactured item at the time???
I was at at Costco 2 days ago, a 4 hour round trip. The Audiologist was unable to test me because of earwax, but he did say he carried some KS 10 stock, so when I make another appointment, he can test and fit in one.
