I had a set of Oticon More aids and used the Blue Tooth adapter to assist in hearing the TV. Everything worked fine until I upgrades to the Oticon Real 1. Now the connectivity is annoying. It works, except when it decided to kick in and out. I can get a long stream of good with sporadic times of it “breaking up”. I have also noticed a similar problem using my phone, although I am rarely on it so it is less an issue. I did contact Oticon and was told that they are aware of it and were working to resolve it. Part of me wants to believe that, and the suspicious part wants to believe I was getting the run around. I have no problems with the aids under any other situations but whenever BT is involved they are annoying. My only reason for having upgraded in the first place was that the VA offered it to me as my original “More” units were reaching 3 years of age and they recommended upgrading.
I guess that I’m looking to find others in the same situation so I can feel better about it until and unless it ever gets resolved.
I have the Real1 aids ad my backup set of aids. I am wearing them today to exercise the batteries. They paired flawlessly to my Samsung S23 phone by doing so from the companion app. They connected easily to my TV adapter.
Oticon has been working on fixing connectivity issues since they came out with the OPN. I have had a series of Oticon aids (OPN, OPN S 1, More 1 and now Real 1) - they all have had issues. However, with the most recent firmware update to the Real and the most recent firmware updates to the TV Adapter 3 (and ConnectClip), things are better. New rechargeable batteries in my Real 1 aids also seems to have resolved the spontaneous reboot problems I was having.
I have no experience with the Intent but others have reported good things. So I would try to get them as flashb1024 suggests. In the interim, I would suggest you check that you are using the most recent phone and hearing aid software/firmware versions.
Oticon released a new firmware version for Real 1 aids earlier this year (version 1.1.2). You can check that with the recently issued version of the Oticon Companion app. I don’t know if Oticon have fixed the app but the older versions would report the correct version in the aids but NOT if there was an update available.
The only way I know of the check that the firmware is up to date in the TV Adapter and in the ConnectClip is to use the Genie programming software. So if you aids are not up-to-date with firmware, you could have the VA update them and check (and update if needed) the firmware in your adapter.
Contrary to what is reported here and what Genie appears to show, Oticon tells me that the accessory firmware is not updatable. Have you managed to update it on any accessory?
Note that I’m just a hearing aid user, not a provider or expert. I do have the up-to-date Genie 2 installed in a Windows 10 partition on an Intel CPU iMac Pro along with the Noahlink wireless.
I didn’t do it myself but my provider updated the firmware in my original TV adapter and ConnectClip following instructions from an Oticon Tech Support person when I was at her office and asked about various issues in August 2019. Both were purchased when first available with the OPN so are old but still work.
The firmware version is checked and updated using a USB connection to the computer running Genie. I was given another TV adapter when I got the Real 1 aids in Dec 2023 - that adapter came with up-to-date firmware. The old adapter is shown as up-to-date but with an older firmware (2,1.1) where the new one has 2.2.0. I suspect that there are various revisions of the TV Adapter 3 that need different firmware versions.
As for the ConnectClip, the technical data sheet for the clip has the following line near the end of the second page:
Genie 2017.2 (or later) Firmware upgrade. Fitting of streaming programs
That statement seems to contradict what you were told.
