Cochlear Accessories vs Resound Accessories

I’m looking into accessories for when I get my Cochlear and noticed that Cochlear only offers 1 year warranty where’s Resound offered 2 years.

Is this common across the board or just the UK?

I’m getting the MultiMic with my Cochlear but I’m looking into the TV Streamer so I can start listening to my DAB Radio again.

Most of my Cochlear accessories came with a one year warranty in the USA.

The only accessory I use is the TV streamer.

I purchased a phone clip from Cochlear here in Aus. It came with a 1 year warranty.
Last week I purchased a multi mic from Resound, it came with a 2 year warranty.

Here’s the catch I first got a multi mic 2, it had to be returned for the multi mic. The multi mic 2 wouldn’t pair with my N8. All because I need a firmware update from Cochlear. Cochlear are very slow with their firmware updates, as I had an update 2 months ago, I’m not expecting another until sometime next year.

Zebras if your accessories come with your kit they will all pair with your processor. But if your going to buy them separately from Resound you need to be aware they might not pair with your N8 processor.

Thanks @Deaf_piper @Raudrive

I find it weird that the warranty is different despite being the same item (I think!).

I’m going to get a MultiMic with my processor but I have to buy the TV Streamer myself.

Zebras if you have a Costco anywhere close to you, they will organize to get a TV streamer in for you they are far cheaper than Cochlear. The TV streamer I purchased for a friend was $150 cheaper than Cochlear store, that was 5 years ago though.

@Deaf_piper Thank you.

I’ll look at the Costcos near by. I think there is one nearby so that is a bonus.

I found the Oticon EduMic to be valuable with my mum being a wheelchair user (as she is lower then me so wears it) so I’ll definitely be using the MutliMic.

Strange. I think they should you provide you MultiMic 2 again after update and your return of the older tech mic.

That won’t happen! I think Resound and Cochlear need to get it all together, and start communicating properly. Or even better working together! It’s the same as the most recent Resound HA’s Vivia and ?Nexia they don’t currently pair with a Cochlear implant.

Does the Viva and Nexia work for severe / profound users?

Here in the UK, anyone getting a Cochlear CI will get a Danalogic Ambio S 98 which is a BTE. No other Danalogic Aid will pair as well, from what I’ve been told.

The NHS are going to issue me with a Danalogic Ambio S 98 Aid as I said I felt weird not having something on each ear, despite having no hearing left.

@Deaf_piper as you also have a Resound hearing aid, do you get this option still on your iPhone? I’m assuming you have an iPhone. I find this 3 click feature very handy.

Is this aid made by Resound? I ask because I am not aware of any other brand of aid that is compatible with the Cochlear processors.

As far as the Cochlear/Resound TV streamer I would bet you could get one off eBay cheap. Might start looking now for that great deal.

This is what I’ll be getting. I only got the email yesterday saying they’ll issue the Danalogic Aid to go with the Cochlear N8.

I’ll look at eBay, never thought of that Altho my private Phonak Aids we’re bought off eBay.

I did take a quick look on eBay for that TV streamer here in the states. There were many!
Prices from $25-$150.
Finding one should not be an issue.

So that aid is GN. That clears the air for compatibility. Thanks

Is it the TV Streamer 2 that I need to look for, for N8. The TV Streamer + won’t work? Altho it is fancy looking, compared to the TV Streamer 2.

I don’t think we have options to buy from Cochlear here in the UK. I have friends with both Cochlear and AB CIs and they always buy from Connevans in the UK.

I’m not 100% sure which MultiMic I’ll be getting either.

@Deaf_piper mentioned the TV streamer 2 did not work for her. Something about Cochlear needs to update the N8.

While looking for the Resound brand the Cochlear TV streamer also popped up.
The Resound TV streamer, not 2, looks identical to the 2. My Cochlear TV streamer looks identical to the Resound TV streamer 2 as well. That Cochlear TV streamer was $100, brand new in the box. I might have a new one somewhere, would have to look. I only use the first one I got with my first implant.

Thanks @Raudrive this is all very confusing.

Connevans are selling a Cochlear brand one. I might just buy this one to save the worry it won’t work.

Just bought a TV Streamer 2 on eBay for £28. I have the software to be able to update the firmware on Resound Accessories.

I also have a friend who’s just got the Cochlear N8 last month. She’s using it half hearing aid half cochlear as her lows are normal. I can test my TV Streamer with her.

That’s expensive!
I can see why the TV streamer 2 might be a problem looking at that list of compatible processors. Some of them are pretty old.

I bet you could find the GN tv streamer around there somewhere much cheaper.

Another option is get to looking for a Cochlear tv streamer on ebay there in the UK.

I might have an extra still in the box??? When I shipped all that stuff to you in the UK years ago it was about $50-$75 I think. Kind of pricey for shipping I thought at the time.

Thank you @Raudrive

I’ve just managed to find one for £28 so I’m all sorted now.

Both you and @Deaf_piper have been kind to me in the past as I got a ComPilot II from. Deaf_piper as well as the stuff from you.

Just logged onto the Cochlear site and the Cochlear TV Streamer 2 comes with a smartphone adapter.

Would anyone know what that is?

Thanks.

Just noticed this on the Connevans website. They are no longer supplying the Cochlear Version.
