Changing Earmolds and Tubes

I’m so furious about having to change the tubes!! Why didn’t they invent something that’s easy to change? Actually, why do we have to change the tubes of the hearing aids every few months? Couldn’t they invent something permanent and sustainable?

I’m in Safaga where there’s no hearing solutions company. I had to change the tubes by myself. I couldn’t so I asked for help from someone else. The man struggled a lot to get the tube out of the earmold because it was glued together. He’s very good at fixing things with hands while I’m not. Imagine, how difficult it would be for me to get them out!

When he finally managed to pull the tube out, it was my turn to put the new tube and I struggled with that. In the end, I decided not to add glue to the tube because I don’t want to go through the same trouble over and over again. Actually, I have to go through this once again because I need to change the tube in the right ear.

I don’t feel/ hear whether there’s a difference without having the tube glued to the earmold. It’s my weakest ear, anyway so I can’t tell! I need to try that in the right ear and I’m sitting on the fence so far!

To prevent you from getting more upset, I will tell you to count to 10 and calm down slowly.

Questioning “why they didn’t… “ or having an attitude like “kiss” (keep it simply stupid) do not have room in this world.

One thing at a time, my friend. If you are using a tube, it means you are severely profound. It is a good idea to go online and watch a lot of videos, see a lot of pictures, and read a lot of things about HAIDs tubes, even if you live in a place that has a HAIDs business every mile.

I, like you and many others with this condition, know that unplugging and plugging new tubes is a pain without transparent sources, but surprisingly, it is not that difficult to control the process.

The most important thing about it is that the day you start to control the steps involved will give you valuable satisfaction and open more doors to get you into the future and deep in this matter.

I will leave the details about the changing tube to our friend here. I wanted to let you know you will get better results if you stay calm and eat local food.

I find stay dry tubing lasts me around 8/9 months. The normal tubes seem to go hard very quickly.

I’ve worn HAs my whole life 30+ years and have never used glue.

You won’t notice any difference.

Staying calm is something definitely I need to work on. It’s not that easy but I should learn to maintain my composure for the sake of my mental health.

I keep reading and learning about my hearing loss and other issues in my life and hopefully, I won’t give up at some point.

Last but not least, I’m doing my best to be an ethical consumer, buying and eating locally.

Do you have an idea where I can get it? I checked with some hearing solutions companies here, it’s not available.

I’m not sure where you could get it as the place I buy it from is UK only.

Think this place sends aboard.

You can store tubing in a draw for a long time so might be worth stocking up so it’s cheaper.

I buy a lot of supplies from this place;

Try to see if they can deliver it to you. If not, I do it another way. I do have an account with UPS and FedEx. When I want to provide shipping to my family or anything, I direct the supplier to use this account on UPS or FedEx, and it will be there when I need it.

Zebras told you about the better tube, which I think is the same as the link if you read the description.

On another note, I have a timer to change the tubes in my two pairs of HAIDs, 60 days, and change. I know some of us wear the tubes for an extended time. I have an active life; many things I do in a day, plus our weather here. I want to make sure the sound from my HAIDs is going to be delivered.

Also, I suggest you take a look at the thickness of the tube. I remember there are three thicknesses; I wear the middle one. That is why I like this place; they explain many things. Mostly, others pull out the item with some description and go. In this world, description and being aware of detail are crucial to success.

Edited to correct the name Zebras

It took me about two months to determine why and who used this tool. And until I had it in my hand, I learned the value of the little tool.

In addition, I also use this little tool as a tube expander for new tubes.

You have no idea how much time it has saved me.

@zebras, in Asia, we are able to buy the normal HA’s tubes to use in silicone molds. Measurement is 3.0 mm external diameter and 2.0 mm internal diameter. There are different sizes. The best I can buy is 3.1mmx2.0mm. They are made of PVC. I am not sure whether the food-grade silicon tube could be used or not? Thet are very cheap in China via AilExpress website.
There are 2 types 1) U shaped & 2) R shaped. I normally buy the R shaped. Can the U shaped be used in the silicon mold. When the PVC tubes harden, it will fall into a L shape with slight bend.
Any idea what type of material are being used to make the Future-tec tubes? or the tube are specially coated by soaking into a special chemical that is water repellent or add a drop of chemical into the hole??

Have a nice and wonderful trip to Sri Lanka. Always sunshine and wonderful tea drinking in Kandy hills.

Maybe I can buy them in bulk from the hearing aid store here and keep them!
I checked with them which kinds and sizes of the tubes are available but they only have one!

What do you use it for, apart from as tube expander? Is it available in Germany?
