Can anyone help one of my KS 10 will not charge just solid red light
My wife’s KS10 played up for ages, Costco had them back repeatedly
The would either come back the same or would fail a few weeks later
They are now out of warranty. It’s hit or miss as to whether or not the right aid would be charged by the morning
I’m at the end of my tether
Does anyone know who could fix the issue for me or do I bite the bullet and just buy a new set from Costco?.
Three weeks ago the red light stayed on permanently on the right aid irrelevant of which port inserted it into
I cleaned the terminal on the aid and dried it off it worked without fail for three weeks . But has now returned to permanently staying Red while in the charger
I’ve cleaned it and wriggled it to no avail
HEPL PLEASE
Kieron in the UK red light
HELP please
Most likely a dud battery, are Costco not able to help out, doesn’t matter if the warranty has lapsed, they’ll sent offer to send it in at your cost, I heard it was about 250.
Hi Thanks for your prompt reply
If I paid the £250 do you receive some warranty?
On the battery yes I’m sure, but how old are these, as I wouldn’t bother myself I’d go and get a new set from Costco, hopefully your not a Phonak fan boy as there are other options available to choose from.
As of Thursday 5/15 I was quoted a cost of $135 per aid ($270 the pair) to replace the batteries in my KS10’s. A one year warranty is included. I plan to keep them as back-ups for my Sonite R which will be fitted on 30 May.
Yeah that’s a pretty good price, cheap actually, you may know already but those Sonite are just rebranded Phonak Lumity, old technology, did you consider the others from Costco, I guess you have all the accessories for Phonak as well, something else to consider I guess.
Thanks to this forum I am aware that they are the Phonak Lumity/ I liked the way they sound, but I was also looking at the Philips 9050 and the Jabra Enhance Pro 30. I know I can try a different one if these don’t agree with me.
I think it’s only a 90 day warranty on the aid, 12 months on the battery. I may be wrong. Anyway had my right aid repaired £120, as my left aid was repaired under warranty 12 months ago. I am getting around 20 hours use without streaming, around 16 hours if I stream.
Thanks for your replies all
The aids were purchased in December 2021 so 3 1/2 years old now and used daily
What is the life expectancy of any hearing aid ?
£120 sounds cheap to replace one battery
I might ask about this at Costco next week and as one you have said have these as a back up and still try a new set
I have tried the hearing aid in both ports it still glows solid red
In Costco UK I noticed they sell Phillips but can’t remember the other two brands
Personally I think they should have recalled customers of this model to discuss replacing them. The problems were known globally at the time
. Pity I didn’t
They did say the guts were replaced but the warranty on the product wasn’t extended. So the right hearing aid isn’t that old
Mine are older than yours May 2021. I would hope to get another 3 years use.
Thanks for that
I’ll keep you posted on her decision.
Just a footnote, I trialed the Philips for 2 months. I did not like them as much as the KS10’s, so ended up returning them. Although many forum members are very happy with the 9050’s.
Wasn’t there an issue with the chargers? Warranty usually replaced the charger as well.
Could he hold the hearing aid toggle while the aid is in the charger to get it reset and charging again?
There are a wide variety of ideas of what the life expectancy of a hearing aid is. Some people have functioning aids over 10 years old. I’d consider anything over 4-5 years a bonus, especially for a rechargeable aid.
Yes your right there was charging issues as well, so the OP should try this.
Ihave the Phonak Paradise P90R’s. At end of warranty my 2 hearing aids and charger were replaced by Phonak.
I had never had good battery life in almost 3 years of use. The new hearing aids batteries have greater capacity.
My dispensing audi picked good hearing aids. He didn’t set them up right. Ever.
I’m grateful my hearing istrument specialist took me on.
A thought, but not a judgement. I would buy the best quality I could. I feel the “Sphere” Phonak aids would be my choice if I were due. I have to use new hearing aids for 5 years the way Ontario Workman’s Compensation is set up. My first Phonak pair were used for 8 years. My second Phonak pair were 2 years old…on my third pair of Phonaks now.
Some good replies. Yep there were KS10 charging issues that apparently a firmware fix has addressed. I paid the ~$150 fee for each and got them back much improved in less than two weeks plus a new one year warranty.
I sent one of my KS 10s for repair out of warranty and Costco fixed them for $135
I’ve tried holding the toggle button for 30 seconds out of the charger no joy. I’ve never done this while in the charger . So I’ll give it a go and report back
Thanks again for all your feed back. At least I’m not alone with this problem
While it was under warranty it was sent away for a firmware fix
