Can I repair non charging KS10

Well I’ve tried holding the volume button while HA is in the charger, nothing . On removing it and replacing it the amber light started flashing. This only lasted for 15 flashes then returned to constant red
I tried the same in the other charging port. This time the green light flashed for 15 and once again turned to solid red

Thanks for trying.
The toggle can be held in the up or down position, did you try both?
Good luck

Maybe they had a bad bunch of batteries, because my right side aid lasted 6 months after being replaced under warranty. Although left side was replaced at the same time and that has been fine.

The last time my W’s KS10s wouldn’t charge, Costco’s audi(sic) fixed them in the store in about a minute. I don’t know what she did. No charge for for the service.

When thinking about service life, I can see at least 3 parameters. First is battery life - I believe they’re designed to last 5 years.

Second is hardware reliability - that is, the ability to keep working in real life, given the probability of sweat infiltration, dropping, too much heat or cold, etc., etc. I think the h/w components will generally last more than 5 years.

Third is technological currency. I’ve replaced my last 2 HAs at the 3 year mark, and I expect to replace my current aids at the 3 year mark. The aids still worked fine, but the new HAs worked better than the old ones, IMO, and were worth the cost of giving up 2 more years of service.

But I have insurance, and even high end non-Costco aids don’t cost much. I kept my 1st 2 sets about 5 years because I had no insurance, and even Costco aids cost a good deal more then than they do now.

Why not try out new aids? Maybe the Sonites are good enough for you, maybe not. After all, most working aids will be better than a KS10 with a dead battery.

I wondered that too. There was a definite issue with the chargers and hearing aid firmware. These issues were fixed eventually.
To the OP. Take the chargers with you to Costco if you plan to get the aids fixed. Costco might need them as part of the repair.

No I’d only tried in the down position. I’ll try the up and see
Many thanks

So very true
It just frustrates me that things don’t last

My first two pair of Phonaks had disposable batteries. I used lots of batteries and they were supplied by Workan’s Compensation. I wear my hearing aids about 15 hours a day.

When Workman’s Compensation supplied my P90’s they came with rechargeable batteries. My take is that they wanted to save dollars; batteries cost a lot. They also don’t want them in garbage that goes to landfill sites.
