Bluetooth and Marvel Phonak problem

My hearing aids: Phonak Audeo M-90R
Phone: I Phone 8

Suddenly I am no longer able to hear podcasts, radio, etc. through my hearing aids.
Bluetooth is on/enabled and I am able to pair my hearing aids successfully. But when I go for a walk and want to listen to a program or podcast, the sound does not come through the ear pieces. I can only hear sound from the iPhone itself. I have tried everything; rebooting iPhone, forgetting and repairing the HAs. Any other suggestions as to what I should try to troubleshoot? Thanks! Susan

Will the aids pair to another device so that you can hear on the airs. Just a way to troubleshoot to see if it is the aids or the phone.

I have the same problem with my Signia Pure Charge&Go 7xā€™s since the latest iPhone software update. I contacted Apple Support yesterday and they were able to solve the problem. However, I asked the tech to flag this as a potential problem with Signia HAs related to their latest iOS update. You might want to do the same to flag Phonak HAs.
For clarification, I received my Signia HAs from the VA last Thurs or Fri, and they paired immediately with Bluetooth to my iPhone 11. The next day or two later, I updated to the latest iOS and now they wonā€™t pair.
Seems like an iOS problem to meā€¦

No I do not thing so I have the Oticon OPN1 aids that are MFI and I haveā€™t had any issues with the new update for IOS.

MFI isnā€™t a problemā€“itā€™s still connected, but Bluetooth isnā€™t connect or connecting no matter what I do to the HAs or the iPhone. Although I just got the Signiaā€™s, I started with Stakey Livio IAā€™s last June and turned in Phonak Audeo M90ā€™s last week for the Signiaā€™s. So, these arenā€™t my 1st HAā€™s. But, Iā€™m certainly not that experienced with any of themā€¦
I just realized that youā€™re also a Navy vet, so also dealing with the VA. I might have stuck with the Starkeyā€™s but I truly believe they were not setup properly. Basically, my receiving the Signiaā€™s though the mail because the VA cancelled audio appointment due to the coronavirus, which I understand. However, I had pretty much the same experience when I picked up my first ever HAs from the VAā€“hereā€™s your HAā€™s and have a nice day! I complained about excessive high frequency setting from day-1 and nothing was ever done about it except that Iā€™ll get ā€œused to it.ā€ So, I tried Phonak and now Signia, and neither one had/has that same problem.
So, was it the Starkey HAs or a wrong setting? Iā€™d prefer to go back to Starkeyā€™s, but what if it was the HAs and not the settings?? Free is nice, but the lack of VA support isnā€™t!

MFI depends on the Bluetooth protocol, can you connect your phone to any other device. I have my iPhone connected to a number of devices without any issues.

Well, I guess I was totally confused because I thought I was connected thru both MFI and Bluetooth settings beforeā€“now itā€™s only MFI. I have no problems making phone calls with MFI thru HAā€™s, but I did have to re-pair the TV streamer Bluetooth to get it back. Oh well, back to the drawing boardā€¦ Thanks for your help.

@seliles Did you get your issue fixed as well?

No unfortunately. I can still pair the HAs using myPhonak app. But still cannot hear anything through ear piece when streaming or listening to a podcast. When I look at my iPhone Settings-> Bluetooth it shows:

LE_L-Phonak hearingā€¦ Not connected
LE_R-Phonak hearingā€¦Not connected

If I select the left or right HA it will change to ā€œConnectedā€ for a few seconds and then change back to ā€œNot Connectedā€œ.

Guess Iā€™ll have to go to my audiologist. This happened once before with only one hearing aid. But this should be a no brainer. It was working just fine for all these months. Think itā€™s a Bluetooth problem or HA problem?

I donā€™t have another device to pair with. Good idea though. Thnx!

I would try completely unpairing from your phone and deleting and reinstalling the myPhonak app. I had to do this once with my M90s (312Ts, nit rechargeable, but that shouldnā€™t matter). Also, make sure you have the latest iOS version for your phone.

seliles, try this:

  1. Uninstall the myPhonak App.
  2. In the iPhone Settings select ā€œForget this Deviceā€ for all Phonak devices.
  3. Turn off the iPhone (an important step I have forgotten to do before).
  4. Restart the iPhone.
  5. Pair with the hearing aid.
  6. Reinstall myPhonak app
  7. Pair both devices as usual.

This will hopefully clear up your problem.

You donā€™t connect to the ā€œLE-L Phonak hearing aidā€ or ā€œLE-R Phonak hearing aidā€. Both of these show up but they are not the ones to use. There should be a third listing that just shows ā€œL-Phonak hearing aidā€ or ā€œR-Phonak hearing aidā€ depending on which one you have set as the dominant aid. This is the only one you can/should connect to and then it should work.

Thanks so much. I tried these steps last night with no success. So after recharging my HAs overnight I tried again and was able to pair my right HA using iPhones-> Settings->Bluetooth. Then it showed:
R-Phonak hearing aids as ā€œconnectedā€

I could then hear audio when streaming!!

But when I then reinstalled myPhonak app and tried to pair using app, the app failed to find my hearing aids. And I can no longer hear audio when streaming.

I guess Iā€™ll just delete myPhonak app for now and just use iPhone Settings -> Bluetooth to pair. This is so weird!! Never had problems like this. I updated my iPhone software as well
Exasperated!

Did you turn off the HAs before trying to pair in myPhonak?

Yes I did. ā€˜Tis a puzzlement!

Is it possible that either your hearing aids or your phone could be in flight mode?

No I just checked and it is not in flight mode.
Good idea though.

Wondering if you experienced what I experienced this afternoon. Out of curiosity do you have (well, did you) your aids paired with more than one device? I connected to my personal Noahlink Wireless programmer interface this evening and while I changed no settings it completely killed the ability of my hearing aids to use Bluetooth properly. After struggling for an hour I just used Target (Phonak programmer software) to delete all the Bluetooth profiles in my aids and voila, I was able to repair them to my phone properly. I tried deleting the app, on and off with airplane mode, phone and aid revoots, nothing else worked but wiping the Bluetooth with Target. And for the average person that will mean an audiologist or hearing aid specialist visit (which is nuts).

No not paired with any other device. So you have to use Target to reset everything? Not familiar with that. I think everything needs to be reset somehow.
