Black ear drum

I decided to check my ears because my tinnitus has worsened last year and my ear drum looks black. Is this a reason to see my doctor or is this a healthy eardrum?

See an ENT or Otologist, not your primary care physician. Typically blood behind the eardrum will cause the black effect.

Whoa, back off there!

That drum is transparent (in part) and the area behind is dark. There’s a bit of ossification (the white areas). It’s a little retracted, but not terribly so.

If you said what’s been suggested above to a doctor, they’d think you’d lost the plot.

My goodness. If you’re concerned go see a doctor.

my eardrum is also not glowing, it looks as if it is dark / dim. and after being taken to the ENT , there has been no action or information on whether it is good or not. hopefully someone will answer here.

You’re into diversity. You have ‘eardrums of color’!

What worries me is, how did you get a camera lens that far up your ear canal?? :grimacing:
