Hi guys .
I have just joined the forum , i am from
Scotland . I use a Oticon more minirite. My deafness is quite complex as I hear high frequencies quite well even without my aid but low frequency is very poor and can’t hear people talking .I completely deaf in one ear so only use one aid in my right , which has limited hearing . How well I hear depends on the person am talking to and the environment that am in . Am sure there are many out there with the same problem . My main issues is back ground noise , pubs and restaurants. I heard the Phonak is better reducing background noise . I mentioned this to my audiologist who said that my issue is due to having one sided hearing only . I have tried a cross system hearing aid but it didn’t work . I lost my hearing on the left side due to an acoustic Neuroma when I was 19 and guess my brain is just used to hearing out of the right . What are people’s thoughts , is there better aids to help with my problem

Welcome to the forum @hearingaid, hope you find the help you are looking for. Hi Ian. A couple of months back I lost nearly all of my residual hearing in my right ear overnight, although some has now returned. A forum member @nglfriend posted on my thread, he is in a very similar situation to you, and had found using one Phonak Infinio Sphere on his good ear has been a great help for background noise in pubs and restaurants etc. I think it would be worth your while sending him a PM.
