WindBlock on Phonak Paradise?

I had my audie activate “WindBlock” on my Bluetooth Streaming program, as I take a daily walk around the neighborhood listening to podcasts, and there is a lot of wind in my area. Before the activation, I could not hear the podcasts at all when it was windy. Now, it seems like all of the bass has been stripped, so I can hear only the high frequencies of the podcast, and it sounds very tinny, but at least I can hear it.

Does anyone have any experience with the Paradise WindBlock setting? Is there a different (better) way to address wind noise while streaming outdoors?

Yes there’s a better way, you don’t want that “windblock” you just need the microphones attenuated, ask your audiologist to turn them off or down -6dB at least.

You can also try to long-press-down on the HA. This should mute the mics. I think this is activated by default settings. If not, your audiologist can activate it.
For cycling, I wear a headband since it is too dangerous to mute the mics. This helps also.
And yes, phonaks wind-blocker sucks!
Good luck!

Yes, if you have WindBlock, SoundRelax, NoiseBlock on etc, even at a 1, it’ll reduce the sound coming from the streaming. It isn’t great. I have mine all off and have the Mics set at -10dB.

Even affects the PhoneCall side as well.

Thanks for the responses. I don’t want to mute the microphone, because I need to hear some ambient noise (e.g., bicyclists and joggers passing from behind me). During the summer, it’s in the 90’s, so I don’t want to wear a headband over them.

On a related topic, is there a setting that will increase the streaming volume when there’s a lot of ambient noise? My Signia Pure HA’s would temporarily increase the streaming volume when there was loud noise (like a leaf blower, or a passing car)

So the way is to attenuate the microphones, this way you can still “hear” what’s around you, -6dB or something similar would be good and still hear what’s going on around you, but yeah the Signia Pure have a setting for streaming in a louder situation, but this would completely drown out the amount of ambient sounds available while it was working.
For your situation just dropping the mic volume a bit seems the best way.

Just like this in the attachment, ask your audiologist to try this for you, as Phonak doesn’t offer the option that Signia does unfortunately.
